Efforts to Ban Circumcision Gain Traction

A breast implant is due to a womens sexual need to be more accepted, either by a lover or society. Do you think a snip to an infant is to increase his chances of scoring with the nurse increases. I had a friend at work give birth and that kid was pulled out with tongs or something to that effect (toilet plunger for all I know) and it`s head was a mess.

I would post what a birth looks like but I doubt it would be allowed

From what you have told me, where you live you need "the snip" to be accepted. Maybe we should start giving breast implants to babies seeing as they wont remember it and it'll only hurt for a few minutes....

Umm your country does more circs then Israel lol ya Canada made it the norm. The last bit you mentioned about giving babies breast implants  Does a society suffer from babies getting the snip, nope not so far as I can see. But let`s try your plan and give implantes to babies. You don`t see how stupid that is. Why not give boy`s with tiny ******s dink implants.

Your thinking this is for sexual reasons and it is not.

Ha, I didn't even know about this law and I'm from California. I personally don't think removing the foreskin is a super big deal one way or the other.Hell,I'm definitely not missing mine, the easier to keep my unit shiny and clean the better-lol. Of course they could leave the foreskin on for all male babies and let a guy decide to get it cut himself if he wants to when he's older.Only thing is I for one would be way too scared to have any doctor to perform surgery on arguably the most important part of my body even if I had a foreskin and hated it.One slip of the snips and I might as well be dead.As a baby you don't know whats going on which in my opinion is a good thing. It does happen of course, but its extremely rare when a baby gets his dick cut off during a circumcision. The only benefit from a foreskin appears to be slightly greater sensitivity during sex. IMHO circumcision is no big deal.I can see this law taking traction in California because were pretty over the top liberal in a lot of things.

Considering my country has less residents then israel, and my partner couldn't find a doctor who would do the procedure on our son in the largest hospital in the country, i would say you should check your facts.

And yes, i do see how stupid it is, what i can't understand is why you don't see how stupid "the snip" is.... Go through this thread and the only things "for" the snip is the way it looks, much like breast implants....

Sorry I miss took you for a Yank. You might want to post what country you live in so others can better understand your stance ;)

Birth is not a plesent thing for mother nore child and a snip at birth is nothing more then the process of being born. You may not like it but who are you to dictate. I don`t like people in Africa putting a disc in there kids lip but who the hell am I to tell them not to.

I live in Texas USA...My youngest son is 11..I was bullied by the nurses and Dr. to get my son circumcised..I held my ground and he is still intact...The misinformation that is out there is unreal...My twins who are 15 are also not circumcised . When one of them was 1yrs old we had taken him to the emergency room for what turned out to be a urinary infection the nurse forced back his skin telling me to do this ..she tore his skin,,when we went to a specialist he told me never to force it back ...then when my 11yr old was 3 and his skin wasnt retracting I was told he would need a circumcision..I had a 1 minute talk with the dr he said you want him circumcised we will do it ...well luckily when I got home I researched the operation and found out that not only did he not need the operation it was also fine that he wasnt retracted and later on if he has problems there are creams and such..I hope that the times have changed and they are steering away from circumcision.

It's a divisive issue. The people who are against it tend to be very against it(almost as much as female circumcision in some cases) and the people who are for it don't like being compared to people who mutilate children so they defend themselves.

I myself consider it not as bad as female circumcision, but the current practice of having it done as a baby and not even giving someone a choice in the matter is just plain wrong. It should be treated as any other cosmetic surgery and require an age to understand what's happening(post-puberty) before it can be done.

Female circumcision is done in part sometimes for "cosmetic" reasons. They're both removing nerve endings from the area... We evolved for those nerves to be there so we would want to bang more often to keep the species going. Stands to reason that removing them from either sex would lessen pleasure and the sexual experience.

Only reason female circumcision gets more attention is cause it's done with rusty knives in a shed with no pain killers where males are sliced and dice daily in our own hospitals under supervision. It's a perception, not actual facts backing up which one is worse because they're both pretty dang bad.

It's like cutting out your tongue so you don't taste food so you'll never know how good ice cream tastes but you'll never get fat. Personally, I love ice cream.

abitofnite, kudos to you for protecting your sons! I'm horrified by infant circumcision. The lack of human rights for children is scary.

Also, I should add that most female circumcisions are done in hospitals when the girls are infants, not done at puberty by a rusty knife. That does happen, but it is rare. I saw a blog once written by a woman who had her daughter's clitoral hood (not the clitoris itself) clipped in a hospital. The page had photos and everything. I think it was in Egypt. Anyway, the women there say they were glad to be cut because it looks better, is cleaner, etc. Exactly the arguments used for male circumcision here. I'm currently looking for the blog. Once I find it I'll post it.

Another important fact: Many babies circumcised in hospitals in the USA are circumcised with no pain medication. My aunt is a nurse who isn't even anti-circ, and she verified it. It's considered a quick procedure, and it's dangerous to give newborns pain medicine, so they're usually just strapped down onto the board and cut. They might be given some sugar water to calm them, but that doesn't do much.

I'm extremely pro-circumcision ban! Leave it up to the owner of the body, male or female. It's a human rights issue.

I recall the tale of a schoolboy, who wrote in an essay about how explorers Bass and Flinders circumcised Australia. :o . It is suspected he meant "circumnavigated", but clearly something Freudian was going on in his young mind..... :P About the only funny thing I've heard about circumcision, really. :hmm:

Here is the blog, if anyone is interested. It was in Malaysia, not Egypt.

But children are not property to do with as you wish. They're people, deserving of the same human rights everyone else has. If children in Africa are being pierced with discs against their will, that should be addressed also.

Thanks for that information. Its quite funny that they use the exact same excuses for mutilating their childrens genitals as those in this thread do!! I can't believe anyone would willlingly harm their children for no benefit, unless you think reduced sexual pleasure as a benefit.
