World's tallest sandcastle at almost 38 feet

He needed a lot more than a bucket and spade and a few pats on the top.

In fact Ed Jarrett, from Connecticut, needed 1,500 volunteers and 1.6million pounds of sand and water to build the world's largest sandcastle - breaking his own record in the process.

The 37-foot, ten-inch sculpture was certified as the world's tallest by Guinness World Records on Wednesday after it was built.

Wow, that is one mother of a sandcastle. Great designs too. He'd be interesting to take to the beach for sure: It'd be a case of "No, no, no - let him build a sandcastle"

Just sand and water and he can sit on it ?

Yeah, that was my thought. I wonder if there is a bit of cement mixed in for strength?

Definately more then just sand and water. Probably has a coating of starch, or something similar.

I would hope so, something to make it slightly more permanent at the very least.

That is one really cool sand castle. It's too bad he couldn't make more permanent.
