Riot In London

Tbh Blackwhite, I think the points raised in the article are missing the overall point, and Trident misses the point, if anything it gives ammo to the police hatred by bringing colour into it..(even if it's relevant).

Of course colour is relevant. The majority of these gangs causing trouble in our cities are made up of mostly black youths. And it can't have escaped your notice that the majority of stabbings which occur in London, Manchester and other cities are usually perpetrated by blacks. Whenever I hear on the news of another fatal stabbing on our streets, I usually predict that the perpetror will be black. Nine times out of ten I am right.

If this winds certain people up and makes them violent or, in the very least, cause them to start crying "that's racist! that's racist!" then I'm afraid it's tough. It's only the truth. Gang and knife culture seem to be particularly attractive to black youths, for some reason, and anyone saying that colour doesn't come into it is only ignoring the truth.

Here are some stats from Scotland Yard itself:

The majority of violent inner-city crime is committed by black men, police figures suggest.

Police hold black men responsible for more than two-thirds of shootings and more than half of robberies and street crimes in London, according to figures released by Scotland Yard.

The statistics released under Freedom of Information laws have provoked a debate about the racial make-up of violent crime in the capital.

The data, which provides the ethnicity of the 18,091 men and boys who police took action against in London during 2009-10, looked at both violent and sexual offences.

It found that 67 per cent of those caught by police for gun crimes were black.

Among those proceeded against for street crimes, including muggings, assault with intent to rob and snatching property, 54 per cent were black males.

On sex offences, black men made up 32 per cent of all male suspects, with 49 per cent of those apprehended by police being white men.

And here's a report from 2008:

Black youths are suspected of more than half of knife crime among children in the capital, according to confidential Scotland Yard figures.

A highly-sensitive report reveals that 124 of the 225 under-18s legally 'proceeded against' for knife offences in the past three months are from the black community.

Yet in the overwhelming majority of reported cases of knife crime involving young people, the victims are white.

In cases where ethnicity was logged by police, 222 of the 345 under-18s attacked or threatened with a blade since April 1 were white. Sixty-one were black.

The ethnicity of a further 292 victims aged under 18 was not stated.

One possible explanation is that in many cases, the victims are black gang members who did not wish to co-operate with police, meaning the figures do not necessarily give a complete picture.

The figures are the first comprehensive breakdown of knife crime and race in London, which has been hit by a spate of fatal stabbings involving teenagers.

They will reopen the debate on whether more robust stop and search tactics are needed to end the culture of knife carrying by youngsters.

Since January 1, 16 teenagers have been stabbed to death in London, forcing Scotland Yard to launch a high-profile campaign targeting youngsters and hot-spots of knife crime.

This whole event is ridiculous. A man shoots a policeman and is shot himself. I see nothing wrong with this. In fact I would be extremely concerned about the state of policing in this country if the police did not react as so.

And the ensuing riot is pathetic. These thugs aren't after 'justice' (there is none to be had, the shot man deserved to be shot), rather they are taking advantage of the situation and using the guise of anger at the police to loot and commit acts of violence. And all of this just goes to show that the rule of law is the only thing standing between large sections of society and barbaric anarchy. Lock them all up.

Pretty much sums it up, yep.

It is quite ridiculous. There is something severely wrong with the culture of some of those who inhabit inner city areas. I simply can not and will not ever be able to understand the mindset or sympathise with a criminal. No matter how poor you are (and its not exactly as if these people are starving...) you do not commit crimes, it's part of being a human being. These 'people' do not deserve the same label as the law abiding citizens, they are violent animals.

The stats speak for themselves, that wasn't my point though. Make it a war on gangs, not trying to solve black-on-black shootings...there is a large Eastern European stranglehold over the heroin trade, Turks and even Russian gangs dominating the crack trade, and plenty involved in people trafficking.....widen the net is what i'm saying (they are currently seperate issues), a war on gangs will encompass the gun tooting plastic gangsters on every estate in the country...and make it so that being involved in criminality with drugs and guns is one of the most short lived career moves you can take...

You do realise this area is mixed race? Most are Eastern Europeans.

Tottenham is often referred to as a black area because it contains one of the largest and most significant populations of African-Caribbean people. These were among the earliest immigrant groups to settle in the area, starting the UK's Windrush era soon after West African communities - notably the many Ghanaians - begun to migrate into the area.

South Tottenham is reported to be the most ethnically-diverse area in Europe, with up to 300 languages being spoken by its residents.

Although Tottenham is a cultural centre, it has also been one of the main hotspots for gangs and gun crime in the United Kingdom during the past three decades. This followed the rise of gangs and drug wars throughout the area, notably those involving the Tottenham Mandem gang and various gangs from Hackney and all of the areas surrounding Tottenham, and the emergence of an organised crime ring known as the Turkish Mafia was said to have controlled more than 90% of the UK's heroin market.

The Tottenham Mandem are a gang based in Tottenham, North London and beginning specifically on the Broadwater Farm estate prior to the Broadwater Farm riot in 1985. One of the early members and later leader Mark Lambie , who was jailed in 2002, was a suspect in the murder of PC Keith Blakelock during the riots.

The gang is composed of over a dozen affiliated sets, according to geographical location. These include Stargang, Bloodline, Broadwater Farm, Reed Road CRIPZ, Bruce Castle Kings, Bruce Grove, Chestnut Black Gang, Ida Bloodstarz, NPK, Philip Lane Boys, Scotland Green, Tower Gardens Black Bandana Gang (New Youngers Set), Stonebridge Mandem (Ermine/Plevna/Stonebridge), Broad Lane, Suffolk & Twyford Goons, Tiverton Piru & Selby Road.

The gang began as a drug dealing collective on the Broadwater Farm estate in Tottenham. Police crack-downs have targeted certain gang members for serious crimes and drug enforcement in the specific geographical locations of Tottenham Mandem sets has been practiced however the gang remained despite turnover of original members due to cyclical recruitment of younger members.

Between 1996 and 2004 over a dozen murders were attributed to the gang rivalry between the Tottenham Mandem and Hackney Boys. More recently Tottenham Mandem gang members have been imprisoned for the murder of Gary Guthrie and ongoing violence between the NPK set and rivals Shankstarz from neighbouring Edmonton in 2009. Somerford Grove became an ally of the Tottenham boys when a gang member from Somerford Grove stabbed a member of Wood Green. The gang member was later identified by police and bailed but jumped bail. A female who was later identified by the Metropolitan Police was part of the violence.

All of the Tottenham Mandem's members are black.

there is no backbone to tackle drug, gang, gun or knife crime. because in order to combat these social ills actions not fitting to a limp wristed country like the UK is needed. yet we dont have a problem taking such actions in the likes of Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya etc... it makes you think. whose running the damn show.

If you solve black on black shooting and stabbings the number of shooting and stabbings in our cities will be cut dramatically.

It won't be solved the way things are currently done. Being in a gang is a different world, and mentality, they don't fear the public, or the law and police, all they fear are other gangs - until the police get the powers to make them fear them, the trend won't change.

Whats the argumet - a man had a gun, and was shot. He fired at a police officer - unless you believe the police shoot themselves. Of course the family know nothing of any of his behaviour - a veritable saint. The inherited and repeated criminality of certain cultures (which is factually supported however much you bleat about racism) is seen in the 'community' as an acceptable life style.

Why did he even have a gun? Forget who shot when - why aren't the family questioning that? You carry a gun - then you risk getting killed - surprise.

Look at the current Channel 4 trailer for 'Summer in the City' - street crime mixed with music is shown as the aspirational norm for the citys uneducated and unemployable.

When was the last Indian gang responsible for a killing? or Pakistani? Its down to the mentality of certain communities that simply accept criminality is part of who they are. Parentling skills are weak with absent fathers being common and the idea of a gang as 'family' and needing 'respect' brainwashed into individuals who can't think for themselves.

The rioting is 99% nothing to do with a criminal getting shot, rather basic inner city tesnions when uneducated people see their lives for what they are and then get an 'opportunity' to indluge in anamalistic crime that is 2nd nature. And they would also like a stereo from the local store with a 5 finger looters dicount - the store may even run by a 'bruv' - but let that not stand in the way of enterprise.

I think this post here shows how extreme the problem has become. There are large parts of Tottenham that are virtual no go areas at night and in the evening, it is that bad. These people can't be rehabilitated and the occasional 3 month stint in prison does not discourage them from crime. It is a cultural problem and one that requires radical solutions.

Just heard of more outbreaks tonight. MSNBC's website is connecting to skynews through twitter. Mentioning Enfield, Brixton and Westfield Shopping Center. Hope this doesn't escalate into something like last night.

Mail Online is reporting that the bullet found in the police radio was tested and found to be police issued. It also is reporting on the rioting Sunday which police are saying is copycat and being done by a horde of mostly teenagers. Apparently London's mayor is on vacation and has said he will not be returning yet.

Considering the policeman in question was almost shot himself, I'd say it was justified. And using their handgun is only a last resort when something like this happens.

Honestly, you really do make me wonder sometimes.

There's a difference though; in the middle east people protesting for democracy and being shot. We are advocating the shooting of violent thugs who have no sense of decency and are displaying an animalistic nature.

Do you think that the family of Mark Duggan will also be calling for an inquiry into why their son was carrying a hand gun in the first place?

The phrase 'live by the sword, die by the sword' springs to mind.

Protestors in the Middle East were unarmed citizens holding peaceful demonstrations. There was no looting in Tahrir, no buildings were set on fire; there is a difference between a mob ransacking shops, and an unarmed political demonstration.

What we witnessed was not a political protest by a community frustrated at Police corruption and victimisation. That happened on Saturday afternoon outside Tottenham Police station. We witnessed the rewards of decades of “radical” “progressive” politics by those who will never have to face the consequences of their actions.

I’ll be blunt. We have tolerated the expansion of a feral class of youth. We have celebrated “diversity” whilst they have celebrated the freedom under the auspices of “equality” to turn parts of London into gang run shooting alleys. Whilst we chuckled at Ali G, life was imitating art. The result? An entire generation that is not educated enough to earn a living from anything other than drug dealing and crime. A dangerous generation that values “status” above morals, materialism above society and has no concept of “improvement”

I saw a tweet yesterday that blamed inner London poverty on people “trapped by long term mobile phone contracts”. It is just the beginning. The usual suspects of community leaders will be dragged out, the left will blame “cuts” and “poverty”, the right will demand more restrictions to immigration and nobody will speak of the elephant in the room.

WE created this. WE told black kids it was OK to be a gangsta. We protected them from the consequences of their actions under the banner of equality and diversity. We told them it was fine to act and behave as a lawless thugs as if challenging that behaviour would somehow offend them.

Whilst “da bruvvers” are celebrating an intake of free widescreen TVs, those who defend them by inaction against their lawlessness are preparing to complain to me that no businesses or jobs will come to the areas they trashed. And it will be my fault. Again.

None of the looters over the weekend is “trapped”. All of them make a choice, as we all do. Live your life as you see fit. If you choose drug dealing, theft and violence as a career choice, don’t you dare call me a bigot when I refuse to support your “diversity”

they are coming out of the woodwork already .the news is full of community workers spouting on about disenfranchised youths and the ethnic backgrounds of police officers in the area.

what exactly has that got to do with thugs shooting police officers and burning /looting shops for saturday night entertainment .those points are no excuse for what has been going on

i myself was dragged up kicking and screaming on a council estate during the maggie thatcher era when we had 40% unemployment in my area.i didnt tool myself up and take pot shots at passing coppers or

make saturday nights into a village sized BBQ .seriously these sandle wearing tree huggers need to live in the real world for a bit and stop pandering to these idiots.
