hi do you know of any way to change or heal your body with your mind? i have heard stories of people using visualization to shrink and get rid of cancer cells, i have also heard that people can change their weight and eye color with hynosis? has anybody been sucessful with any of this or is it all just stories?

There is only so far this "mind over body" concept can be stretched.

While it does seem possible to enhance your immune system with bio-feedback, you cannot change your eye color, gender, bone structure or anything just by thinking about it really hard.

Things like weight can be altered with diet and exercise but part of ones weight also has to do with bone structure and that cannot be altered no matter how much "visualizations" you do.

Whenever you read these sorts of stories, you need to exercise some discernment. Many stories are used to sell books, seminars and goofy looking stones.

yes i use visualization to change my body i believe not my eye colour etc but i lost weight extremely quickly after learning about visualiztation and have maintained my ideal body weight for well over a year now although i did change my eating to lose it it was no proper diet just eating healthier but still lost the weight faster than anyone else i know i believe in visualization and doing so has changed my life. i dont care if other people dont believe i do and whether it was the motivation i needed or it really works it has changed my life in many ways all for the better.

but you don't know this for sure you just assume because you have seen no proof for it right? i always exercise discernment and i know a lot of info like this is manipulated to sell a book but i still haven't seen any proof this cannot be done.

hmm. thanks for the response i would say it had to do with you changing your diet, but if your convinced visualization had that great of an effect then i can't dispute that cause i have not done visualization for long enough to see if its possible. thanks for the response and good for you!

thanks "thefirstman" i actually heard something about that where they did a study and took two groups of people some of them worked out in a gym and some of them sat on the couch and imagined they were working out and it had the same effect. What i'm really wondering tho is if you could maybe fix injuries in your body or regenerate damaged body parts for example what if you could use your mind to make scar tissue come off your body and be replaced with fresh flawless skin? in my opinion the sky is the limit and since there is nothing proving this cannot be done, i think it is still possible until im proven wrong. what do you guys think?

ah, but these aren't mere wishes as far as i know things such as affirmations take time to take hold it takes a daily effort for about a month before they truly take hold. same thing with visualization and hypnosis. Oviously if it were instant then everybody would know it works and thus everybody would have their ideal body and life. Did your body grow instantly because your mother wanted a kid? no, it takes 9 months for you to grow and then it takes years until you are finnaly done growing. I do have a theory, what if people can and have done these things but they figured no one would believe them any way? i mean i guess they could do some sort of experiment but then others would come up with an excuse and say it happened some other way. Besides their hasnt been any studies saying this cannot be done and who would even fund such a study? the idea sounds redicoulous to most another thing is most would probably give up if it took more then a few days to see any results and then you have to take into account belief look at the placebo effect the people dont take a real medicine so the belief alone is what cures them same thing with not believing. so maybe it could be done but people do not believe it can so it doesn't work?

Yeah, not buying it. There are people very happy to take your money for leading them through a breast enhancing course as often as you like. I have yet to meet a teenager that does not spend at least an hour a day wishing for some sort of upgrade to their body.

Tongue in cheek remarks aside, I absolutely refuse to believe that the military, the world's oldest results-oriented business concept, way the heck back in the early years of civilization arising, utterly failed to incorporate one of the simplest, cheapest, and least dangerous forms of training if there was even a hint that it might actually be effective.

i can tell you think i'm a dumb ass or something, of course there are people out there who are completely full of **** and will just take your money for a treatment that does not work. i know this very well and i have never been scammed out of any money, i always thourougly research products or services before i buy, i check if what they claim is possible, and i check if people have had good experiences with it or not, of course certain businesses make fake accounts and write fake testimonials that is very obvious, thats why you check multiple websites and forums and guage wether its true or not thats just some of the things i check to see if its true.

and you know this how? because you have been in every position in the military? you have been in the air force, the navy, the army, etc. all of them? and you were allowed complete access to all information while you were there? didn't think so. so your guess is as good as mine and i'm afraid for your sake yours is also speculation only difference is i have something to support my stance. i mainly posted this to see if anybody had personal experience with this, if they have actually done any of the things that are claimed and cured ailments of the body i didn't post this to be mocked.

what i mean is has anybody used just their mind to heal specific problems or diseases?

i'm not even looking for peer reviewed journals on healing your body just with your mind cause i know they don't exist, im looking to see if anybody on here has used just their mind to heal their body and what process they used to do it, so i can experiment with it i don't need peer reviewed journals when i can check the validity of things by my self and anything to do with healing with the mind is all stuff i can expermient on myself. there are plenty things that cure and treat ilnesses and ailments that the medical establishment does not believe to be true.

The placebo effect has been verified and well documented for years. I think you can pretty much give a trust in scientists. I think it only "boost" the healing ability of the body, it doesn't do magic trick like healing spell in movies so don't expect it to cure disease like AIDS or H5N1 (swine flu), anything about virus. Cancer is a malfunction of the DNA so I think it helps the body to "reprogram" a neat and flesh structure.

Meditation is a method of healing, for example. I sometime use it to cure headache because it's simply a malfunction of the body, bad blood flow, etc... not virus, bacterias...

Though, it would be cool if there is a guide/tutorial how to exploit the placebo effect to use it in daily life.

One can expect some changes with mind game but can't say one can do this big wonders as asked for by OP, like change in eye color. Meditation can help one get healthy for it helps repairing cells of the body a lot.

Some years ago there were a couple of shapeshifting videos posted on youtube by a chi-quong fellow. In the first video the fellow takes you into a light meditation before leading the listener through a visualisation exercise where you take mass (blood and bone and other cells) from one hand and transport it across to your other hand, causing the receiving hand to expand and lengthen and the giving hand to shrink.

The first time I did it, my receiving hand had become about three centimetres longer than my giving hand, and I actually watched my receiving hand reconstitute and return to normal size. Now at this point you're all probably thinking it was just a psychological trick caused by the meditative state and the visualisation technique. So did I! So to prove it was just a trick of the mind, I repeated the experiment but this time had a ruler on hand to measure my hands before and then immediately after! To my utter amazement, my receiving hand measured three centimetres longer immediately after the exercise and then reconstituted back to the original measure length!

The video has since been pulled from youtube for unknown reasons, but not before I made myself an audio copy. Such a simple little exercise but easy to prove as a physical alteration by using a video camera and ink pads to capture fingerprints before the exercise and then capture the elongated fingerprints immediately after!

The reason 99.9% of people will never accept the mind can cause dramatic changes in their own body is because 99.9% of people never ever try!!!!

As I understand it, it's part of the mind-body connection (placebo that is). By thinking "towards" a certain body area, you're sending electrical signals to stimulate that area. This is similar to the use of chi energy to increase blood flow and generate subtle heat, or the increased results weight-lifters get when they can "put their mind ON their muscle" during a lift. I've testing both of these, and they do work. But they're not miraculous in my experience (at least, not for a practiced amateur like me). Pretty cool though. The medical placebo works more along the lines of removing negative stress and worry, thus relieving the immune system to do its job without the extra strain and pressure that comes from being stressed out. The placebo itself doesn't boost anything. Instead, it removes barriers in the form of chemicals/hormones that interfere with immune system function. The psychological effect works towards building perception of confidence/belief/faith, which are more permanent versions of the same state of mind, leading back to the medical result.

If there's more to it than that, it hasn't been seriously studied...though you'll note that that in no way rules out that the mind can directly control the body...to a degree (as far as we know). Even something as simple as balancing on one foot while attempting to kneel on the remaining with arms out to the front, eyes closed, is made easier by envisioning flat, level ground beneath you...a stimulation of the balancing muscles that would normally rely on visual feedback as well as contact with ground and the balancing mechanism of the ear.

Varying degrees of pain can essentially be "ignored" by simply not registering them, through mental discipline and awareness, which in itself speaks to a level of direct control over the nerve system's more finite and (normally) automatic processes, though I don't know if anyone has studied this physiologically to see if the nerves literally aren't carrying the signal or if the purposeful, disciplined manipulation of perception over time has simply empowered individuals to re-interpret/re-route pain elsewhere (such as with those who find certain pain to actually be pleasurable). I've never really thought to look into if there is cross-section in the "wiring" that would allow a greater degree of control over automatic functions, such as one might do by forcing the eyes not to blink or holding the breath.

One of my sifu's "things" was to say "mind to mind, matter to matter", "the more dense the matter, the harder the mind has to work it to perform even the simplest of feats", "sometimes better answers are found by extending the mind beyond the matter at hand". These were purposefully phrased to contain multiple insights of course, every one of them being a physical, mental and spiritual/philosophical lesson. When he spoke of mind, he meant thought itself. When he spoke of densities, he spoke of blood, bone, muscles, tendons, soft-tissues, fluids...everything has it's own "density". The ultimate lesson was that, mind can affect some crucial changes, but often matter must be used in conjunction if you wish to affect more dense matter in kind. Certainly seems that way to me. And as you said, it stands to reason that if it were possible, our military past would have tapped into it beyond the subtle findings by now.

Would be awesome though.
