conspiracybeliever Posted August 23, 2011 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2011 Besides Muammar Qaddafi, Rick Perry may be having the worst day in politics. His extremist belief that everything from consumer protection to Social Security to federal child labor laws is unconstitutional keep dogging him on the campaign trail.Read more... They're so funny! Indiogene Posted August 23, 2011 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) What's next? Rick Perry compares the GOP to the founding fathers in the constitution and maybe to himself to Jesus! He's never getting nominated in the GOP presidential race, except he can go on and on about the holiness of private enterprise, the sanctity of capitalism and how much Texas is sovereign (i.e. the "right" to secede was embedded in the Texas state constitution, due to its admission after brief independence in the 1840s) is nothing more than an empty threat to gain attention to the "Evil" feds. Oh no! A minimum wage law to set it at $8 a hour...is Slavery! Nazism! Communism! Socialist Europe! Satanic, Atheist, Secular, Pagan, Islamofascist! Third World voodoo economics of African Muslims! (the last comment was all done in the form of sarcasm, from the mouths and minds of Libertarian wannabes). questionmark Posted August 23, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2011 But on a serious note: why is it that all Texas politicians since the last half of the last century operate their mouth before switching on their brain? There must be something to explain that.

Order66 Posted August 23, 2011 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2011 A slave doesn't receive the fruits of their labor, the profits from the work they do goes to the slaveowner, this is analogous to taxes. The government doesn't earn the money, they just take it. Moreover a slave has their housing food and other needs paid for, the ultimate entitlement program. Who cares if you are denied access to any other opporunities, you have everything you need. America had the perfect model of European socialism in the Old South. If you can live without taxes please pay your local policeman out of your pocket, thank you. I love this crap. To live in a community people have to do duties needed for a community to exist. And those people have to eat too, so they get paid for those services. That pay, since the beginning of civilization is called taxes. But feel free to move to some cave in some place if you don't want to pay any.

Welcome to civilzation! Why don't you ask them? You do know many of them didn't survive to make that decision right? Maybe the Pubs should scream that question out to the masses just like you just did and see what response they get?

It went from the wealthy European landowners to the Southern plantation owners to the Southern Democrats of the 20th century who still think they are aristocrats who have to manage the lives of the peon working class who are incapable of making decisions for themselves. Actually I think it's more like the peons who have no power or MONEY, which is the power. Money talks. There is supposed to be a government protecting those people without that power. But by all means tell it like it is. I'd love to see the Pubs speak your words on the TV. Just tell it like it is. I'd love to see the reaction. Maybe the people would finally stand up and "welcome you to civilization". Now that would be entertaining!

There is supposed to be a government protecting those people without that power. But by all means tell it like it is. You equate slave owners with rich capitalists? Because they are oppressing you by offering jobs, goods and services? Here is the difference: In a free market, you can buy goods/services from anyplace you want, and can even become a seller yourself. ( If you have a job, you are selling a service. You do the work, why should the government take the money you earn from that in the form of taxes? Thats as good as a landowner or slaveowner taking the profits from the fields you harvested) Slaves don't have too much of a job market to choose from and there's not much upward mobility unless Harriet Tubman is around. I'd love to see the Pubs speak your words on the TV. Just tell it like it is. I'd love to see the reaction. Maybe the people would finally stand up and "welcome you to civilization". I want everyone to have a chance to succeed but in a way that is not at the expense of others. I want to see people realize the potential they have as an individuals instead of drinking the kool-aid of politicians like Obama who think America is doomed to failure ( you should look at my profile to see Obama's recreational reading over the weekend ). He's comparing the civil rights movement to the fight he thinks corporations are having now. I think he's a little confused and so are you. You are the one that brought slavery into the conversation. Anybody who has been around here long enough would know that if thought or considered you a bigot I would say so straight out, not with cursive decorations. Now, as you posed the question I must revise my until now not existent opinion, cause I don't know you long enough to: Who befits the shoe wears it. So we have the first suspicion here.
