SHaYap Posted September 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2011 (edited) Jerusalem: Two thousand years after they were written and decades after they were found in desert caves, some of the world-famous Dead Sea Scrolls went online for the first time on Monday in a project launched by Israel's national museum and the web giant Google.Read more... Latest and hot on the web ... The Dead Sea Scrolls are some of the most valuable religious texts known to man. Discovered between 1947 and 1956 at Khirbet Qumran, they form the oldest known versions of Biblical documents and take the form of 972 texts. Their age dates them at somewhere between 150 BCE and 70CE when they were hidden in caves to prevent the Roman armies from discovering them. That they survived so long is incredible.Due to the age of the documents, and the fact they have been written on parchment and papyrus, it’s understandable the fragile originals are kept at The Israel Museum in Jerusalem in a sealed container. SHaYap Posted October 1, 2011 Author #9 Share Posted October 1, 2011 Working closely with Eisenman - one of the foremost experts in biblical archaeology and scholarship - Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh have succeeded in uncovering the story of how and why up to 75 per cent of the eight hundred ancient Hebrew and Aramaic manuscripts, hidden for some nineteen centuries, still remain concealed from the world today. But their book is more than an exposé of a bitter struggle between scholars who have begun passing round bootlegged photographs of scrolls yet to be released. Through interviews, historical analysis and a close study of both published and unpublished scroll material, the authors are able to reveal the true cause of all the trouble, for these documents disclose nothing less than a new account of the origins of Christianity and an alternative and highly significant version of much of the New Testament. Quoted from HERE The real question is why it took the "scholars" so long to translate the discoveries and how many "parts" are still hidden from the world.
