Really? You ever hear of the LAPD? Ever hear of the LA riots? The Watts riots? Police beating AND shooting rioters. Many that didn't have guns, many that could have easily been subdued.

Don't get me wrong, I like cops. They deal with a level of BS that I wouldn't want to (the politics, not the criminals), but that doesn't mean that they won't kill a criminal "just because". If something like this never ever ever happened, police departments wouldn't have an Internal Affairs Division.

I'm not saying it doesn't ever happen, but it is not a matter of policy for police to just randomly decide to execute someone occused of a crime.

I also know of quite a few honest citizens who had to defend themselves during the LA riots because the LAPD refused to act due to political pressure. As for Watts, well, that was 50 years ago. A lot of changed with regard to law enforcement since then.
