Wickian Posted October 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2011 It would essentially block DNS servers(the hosting) of web domains(the URL name) to take the websites offline.
__Kratos__ Posted October 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 27, 2011 But they want the US to police the internet globally not just locally. So if you're a site in the Netherlands you could still be shut down from this act by the US government. All it'll do is a create a legal mess for the tax payers instead of the mpaa filing civil lawsuits themselves.
ninjadude Posted October 27, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 27, 2011 It would essentially block DNS servers(the hosting) of web domains(the URL name) to take the websites offline. So if I use a DNS outside of US jurisdiction or the IP address directly, it has no effect? Seems kind of useless.
