questionmark Posted October 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 28, 2011 The Occupy Wall Street movement is just one example of the sudden outbreak of tension between America's super-rich and the "other 99 percent." Experts now say the US has entered a second Gilded Age, but one in which hedge fund managers have replaced oil barons -- and are killing the American dream. At first, the outraged members of the Occupy Wall Street movement in New York were mainly met with ridicule. They didn't seem to stand a chance and were judged incapable of going up against their adversaries, Wall Street's bankers and financial managers, either intellectually or in terms of economic knowledge. _Only Posted October 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2011 I disagree. It has become a sudden outbreak of tension between protesters and police control forces, and wish it would stick to the issue at hand.
ninjadude Posted October 28, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 28, 2011 It has become a sudden outbreak of tension between protesters and police control forces who really are causing all the problems. We have a right to protest.
Farmer77 Posted October 28, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 28, 2011 YES YES YES!!!! The answer to that question plain as day, the evidence is all around us. What absolutely blows my mind is the absolute death grip that the majority of Americans have on the status quo.

The government's laws regarding taxing and money, and the division between the rich and poor. Indiogene Posted October 29, 2011 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2011 The rich are in control of this country, no diggity about it and won't rest until the people stop asking for a handout, er bailout like corporate America has received when the stock market tumbled. Our society is money-driven and possessive (make that obsessed) with money and materialism, therefore an oligarchy is formed over a small elite doesn't want to give up what they have over everyone else. The police are sent to keep law and order, and when provoked, protesters need to be ready for arrest and hold down on the pavement.
