Occupy Wall Street protests across the countr

I find it kind of amazing that in this thread about rape and sexual assult in OWS, no one seems to really care about women getting raped. Meh, that happens everywhere, not such a big deal. Rape isn't happening in every camp, so no big deal.

Who said that? Criminals should be arrested.

PEACEFULLY. People are allowed to protest peacefully.

Apparently in the US you are no longer allowed to protest peacefully. Please see the news reports. Just yesterday from the UC Davis.

There is a difference from peacefully protesting and peacefully disobeying disobeying lawful order. Jaywalking is peaceful but it's against the law.

Either obtain permits or permission for the grounds you'd like to occupy or abide by the law or the requests of those who own the property.

A protest doesn't mean you can do what you want just because it's "peaceful".

Sure you can protest. What you cannot do is squat in public land for weeks, induce public health hazards by creating an environment afflicted by things like TB and lice, create a danger to public safety, and commit acts of vandalism. These people want to open up a human rights investigation because they're being asked not to urinate and defecate in parks and streets like animals.

But part of me does hope this occupy garbage goes on. It's been an endless source of amusement.

:P

Some people claim the Tea Party members are rednecks. As we can clearly see, there is a huge difference between the Tea Party and OWS, even though they have some of the same goals.

I think the OWS is a fad that will fade away soon enough. There isn't enough cohesion to amount to anything.

So explain how we are going to make People in Congress and their buddies on wall street poor? I have the answer elect the only truly Honest person Ron Paul. He will clean house.

It's just a line from a movie that is very applicable...the only thing the 1-5% top earners fear is being poor....so I say let them taste their fears....

No but seriously....Given the candidate field...I like Ron Paul...I voted for him in 08. Not all of his agenda is practical, but there is a certain "common sense" idealism behind his position on many things...and I like that. In o8, he was the Libertarian candidate and even though I recognize a need for social structure and programs...I am 100% for freedom and liberty to live life as you personally see fit.

I do not agree with homeland security and the police state of the democratic party (telling us how to raise our kids and what to feed them and what needs to be taught to them)....nor do I believe that the conservative republicans and their pro-life, tell you how to live agenda is correct either....I believe in Liberty and choices...and thus I am...at the core....I guess... a socialist Libertarian...take care of the poor, the elderly and infirm...leave me alone and don't invade my privacy...If I want to burn one and draw pretty pictures to sell...that is my business...now go away...

Therein lies the rub. It was not a lawful order.

Most of this post is incorrect. Zucotti park is private. Most other areas had permits or were being allowed the protest. Local businesses allowed protestors to use facilities. Local park clean crews were allowed to clean up and mow the grass by moving tents and belongings.

Ninja, the cops were there to see through the requests of those that OWN the property...the SCHOOL. Not the protesters. While it is clear that ows does not respect the idea of PRIVATE property that does not mean they can do what they want where they want. If you allow people to occupy your front yard but not the driveway or else you'll call the cops and they insist on occupying the driveway against your wishes, you call the cops. When they arrive they ask what the problem is. You say they can stand on my lawn but not the driveway the cops will proceed to remove folks from the driveway as per you, the OWNERS, request. Don't get technical about this comparrison. You know I'm right. If you ever want this movement to be respected and embraced respect the property of others. You'd want people to respect yours.

How many of you are old enough to remember the 70's? Ever hear of the UMW or the Teamsters? They were put into a position where they had to behave in less than desirable fashion to make a point...that point needs to be re-made. Humans are not "assets"...they are humans and need to be treated and compensated accordingly...

There is a great line from the 80's movie "Trading places" that really envelopes this whole situation about OWS and fairness in the business environment...

"The way you hurt rich people is to turn them into poor people"...do not let them make the money....that is a really good way to start change...

Think long and hard about that...it can be done if people stop tweeting and facebooking and start working and socializing...stop supporting these a-holes and they will be forced to have to listen and change...otherwise...your distracted and "dumbed down" self is making no impact...none...

If you want to make a difference...you need to stop indirectly supporting those you oppose...but I doubt that is going to happen...the younger generations know little if anything about suffering and sacrifice for a cause...The OWS seemed to turn my opinion around, but in light of all of this...they are failing....it's not a party "dude"....get some focus and dig in...

Funny how you claim to be a libertarian in some senses, yet want some type of mandated Force to make other people live according to your standards. Pure hypocrisy in my opinion.

Even though Damrod, we've debated a little on here before, i think if we all "burned one" together and relaxed a little bit we'd find more common ground and possibly begin to fix what is wrong with the country through REFORM, not REVOLUTION, which is what these (useful?) idiots seem to want.

Remember this well Marxists, Socialist, and Communists do not believe in PRIVATE property. They believe in all means of production, property, monies and credit are all the states possession to be doled out and rationed at their whim.

A monopoly can only exist in a true free market for only a short time. All monopolies are in collusion with Government in some way.

It's not that Capitalism has failed but rather Crony Capitalism has. That is monopolies created through Corporate and Government collusion with hedge fund managers and 501/c3 filed entities skimming taxpayers through their collusion with Government robbing all of us. Robert Rueben, Bill Clinton< Glass Steigal act. helped this. Practically all of the Cabinets staff are from the U.S. Communist party and the economic staff is from companies like CITI Group AIG etc. etc. All of which have acquired wealth through nefarious means being in the CONNECTED class none of them has ever produced wealth.

We need to identify and throw the CRONIES OUT! We the 80% are actually doing this as I write this. 80% honest folk who work and produce goods and services. As opposed to the trust fund spoiled brat 9% occupy, Union leaders, philanthropists 501 c3 parasites.

I AM JOHN GALT!

I wholeheartedly agree with you. If you look at the field he seems to be the only one who could possibly pull us out of this and put us back on solid ground. At the same time clean out D.C. of the criminal elements trying to micro manage every aspect of our lives. Every Government in the worlds history has tried and failed. We have not lived without crony capitalism since sometime in the 1880's Even cattle barons of that time were in collusion with Government albeit at a more local level. Connie Mack's Penny plan sounds good. But we need to throw these criminals out and close our border before any real hope can be realized. 501 c3 entities that bilk the tax payer needs to be addressed for one. CEO's of these unions and nonprofits make multiple six figure incomes of taxpayer and dupes money. They range from green activists through help the poor foundations some do good however but, why should a regional manager for the Red Cross make over $100,000 a year for example?

Now we have Nuke Israel rally? LINK

In your opinion. In actuality, our political system is designed by the founders as a representative democracy which means that you MUST have groups speak for you.

They are called Representatives and Senators.

In your opinion. Actual polling shows wide and complete support for OWS both nationally and worldwide.

Not really, infact most people don't really know what they are crying about in the U.S. maybe in the world Huffington Post, but not the real world.

Poll: 'Occupy' movement fails to capture Americans' interest

Source - USA TODAY/Gallup Poll Nov 21, 2011

Apparently you watch fox news or some other inaccurate news. The percentage of OWS unemployed is roughly the same as the country. One thing they are protesting is that they cannot find a job. There are 5 job seekers for every one job available. They do NOT want a free ride in any sense.

So they are protesting that they can not find a job yet the unemployment rate for the protesters is the same as the national average. how do you know what the unemployment rate is for these protesters?

I think for most Americans, these people are turning Wall Street to a mordern day Woodstock. I've seen these protests in Charlotte and in Boston and the message is mixed from end the wars, capital punishment and political corruption. not to mention they look like hippies. you just get this feeling that these people want to be part of something rather then trying to get something done.
