AA Institute Posted March 12, 2012 #26 Share Posted March 12, 2012 Surely we could get there (maybe only in small numbers) with today's technology. True and there have been many blueprints going back to at least the 1990s. Here's one I find highly useful! http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/mars/mars_crew.html It all comes back down to the basics of "costs" and "he who dares..." Leonardo Posted March 12, 2012 #27 Share Posted March 12, 2012 What do you think about nanomachinery, though, Leonardo? Not currently an option, and who knows when it might become one? Also, despite what we see in science fiction, I do not foresee nanomachines as a 'cure-all' for various physical ailments and conditions, such as calcium-leaching from bone. The machines would be extremely simple - a necessary adjunct of their miniscularity - and complex 'programming' would be extremely unlikely. DONTEATUS Posted March 22, 2012 #28 Share Posted March 22, 2012 We will need to be able to go so far past our solar system to get a new chance It boggles the mind. But If we Look at just becoming star travelers ,in the vastness of space then just maybe we could pull that off ! Just Remember to Take Lots of TANG ! King Fluffs Posted March 22, 2012 #29 Share Posted March 22, 2012 I'd stay behind and be one of those archetypal bandits that are in every apocalyptic film nowadays. (I've even got the suit)
