TK0001 Posted January 3, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2012 So? We haven't exactly endeared ourselves to the world over the last few decades. Not that what he did is excusable, of course.

Lilly Posted January 3, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2012 And just what does everyone think would happen to an American that was to go over to Germany and start setting fires there? Would simply saying, "I hate Germany" be a valid excuse?
+and-then Posted January 3, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2012 Apparently he was upset because mommy couldn't join him here the the country he hates. At least not as expeditiously as he wanted... It is California after all so he'll get counseling and probably the state will buy his mumsy a place so she can be near him while he gets "all better". God, California is like a separate dimension of time and space.
Princess Serenity Posted January 3, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 3, 2012 I'm glad that he was caught. What he did was illegal and not an excuse. If you don't like it than don't live here.

Persia Posted January 3, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted January 3, 2012 Shervin Lalezary, an Iranian-born lawyer who moonlights as a deputy, was among hundreds of law enforcement officers who spent the last four days looking for the person accused of setting a rash of car and building fires across the city. http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2012/01/03/part-time-deputy-who-nabs-arson-suspect-hailed-a-hero/
+DieChecker Posted January 3, 2012 #11 Share Posted January 3, 2012 Read this last night. Very weird. German Immigrant driving a Canadian registered van and setting fire to cars in LA. This has Movie of the Week written all over it. Seriously though I hope he gets more then just treatment. He did over a million dollars of damage. The news said that the LAPD said that they found this a good exercise in how to deal with possible domestic terrorist incidents. Well the guy certainly was causing terror, so I'd call him a terrorist.

Persia Posted January 4, 2012 Author #16 Share Posted January 4, 2012 Hey Persia, what do you mean by "Shervin is the real American"? Well ... Some people asked me before,in other thread if iranian did something positive in US and if they are real american and now this is a good example, this man has done a big job, and has taught everyone that means a good citizen. FLOMBIE Posted January 4, 2012 #17 Share Posted January 4, 2012 Oh, he is of Iranian ancestry, I did not know that. But he was just doing his job, in my eyes. Paying taxes like many other Americans of Iranian descent. No need to exaggerate that, but I see where you are coming from. Take care!

+and-then Posted January 5, 2012 #19 Share Posted January 5, 2012 Bombing of Dresden in World War II http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Dresden_in_World_War_II It's worked in the past. SLIGHTLY different context. Seriously though, Dresden was a true tragedy and couldn't really be justified. IMO one of a very few instances of unjustified use of force.
