Junior Chubb Posted March 15, 2012 #26 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Maybe these brooms are overworked and just standing up for their rights
BaneSilvermoon Posted March 15, 2012 #27 Share Posted March 15, 2012 The bristles were probably worn on a slight angle from sweeping in one direction more than the other, resulting in it being able to balance like that. ^^This........ I worked at Pizza Hut for 8 years and closed almost every night I was there, which meant sweeping. I used to leave the brooms like this in the middle of the store all the time when I left just to screw with the day managers. Though getting them to balance the whole night, and not get knocked over by the pressure change when the door opened in the morning was more luck than anything. I can't believe this article even exists.

JayMark Posted March 15, 2012 #29 Share Posted March 15, 2012 If it's balanced on the bristles then it isn't defying anything except a few peoples common sense. Common sense would tell you I was making a joke.

JGirl Posted March 15, 2012 #31 Share Posted March 15, 2012 i would be far more impressed if both the broom and the paintbrush were not flat on the bottom
JayMark Posted March 15, 2012 #32 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Occam's razor - that is a WAY to complicated answer. The simple answer is that, it either had really, really good balance, which would be very rare but not impossible. I think it would be even more strange if this NEVER happened throughout humanity. Also, it could be magnetism between the broom and floor. Simple answers that it explain it like this. I was beeing sarcastic.
JayMark Posted March 15, 2012 #33 Share Posted March 15, 2012 My bad then. No problem bro! I just had found it pretty peculiar that you would take it somehow seriously. I was jokingly talking about his fridge morphing into a broom that would then stand on it's own balancing like that. But that's me. I love beein sarcastic someitmes in a very serious way to tease poeple a bit.

JJsDietFitness Posted March 15, 2012 #35 Share Posted March 15, 2012 hahaha Bane Silvermoon...my first job when I was a teen was in a hardware store; I used to get the managers mad at me 'cause I'd leave the brooms standing like that at the end of the day...good laugh

JohnSmith22 Posted March 26, 2012 #38 Share Posted March 26, 2012 Can we start judging the general intelligence of cities based on the believability of their paranormal reports? If so Culver City gets an F.
Fergus Posted March 26, 2012 #39 Share Posted March 26, 2012 I used to be able to stand on my own, then I took a broom to the knee

jesspy Posted April 3, 2012 #41 Share Posted April 3, 2012 Maybe somebody is dusting the brooms with Viagra dust? Ha!! I used to be able to stand on my own, then I took a broom to the knee HA!!! I reckon around 56 people will get that lol. When the brooms start moving and sweeping themselves and the dust pans pick up the dust and take it to the bin themselves then I will be intrested. Til then its fun to watch my brother try to balance one while my mum says "you need to clean the floor around it first" lol
Taun Posted April 3, 2012 #42 Share Posted April 3, 2012 The article said 'physicists believe it is the work of static electricity'... If so, why are'nt the sleeves of the sweater standing up in the photo? A sweater will be subject to static effects A LOT sooner than a broom or a paintbrush will...
