Beavers may be breeding in Britain again

Beavers may once again be breeding in the wild in Britain, as experts say an animal discovered in slurry pit last week was not the one which escaped from farm three years ago.

The mystery beaver's appearance in Gunnislake, South East Cornwall, could mean more beavers are living wild in the area and breeding.

Igor was one of three giant rodents to have escaped from their home in Lifton, Devon, in 2008.

The two females were caught soon after but the male eluded his captors, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake as he gnawed through trees.

So when a male beaver was found in a Gunnislake slurry pit it seemed the fugitive beaver had finally been caught.

However, it now appears that this beaver is not Igor.

It only takes a few of them to get started. I like it when I find limbs they have stripped of their bark, makes a good walking stick and if you get a dog after you that wants to bite it good to smack them with.
