Giza pyramids mystery

Is Lebanon under Egypt at that time?

btw look my previous post.

No, but Egypt was trading with them, besides there was not much wood required because, to the contrary of what was supposed 50 years ago the stones were moved on sand sledges that lasted quite a while (in fact some lasted to this day and are on exposition in the Egyptian museum in Cairo)

Doesn't need to be, Egypt traded with them.

As for your own link, it says it was inscribed during the Ptolemaic dynasty, between 332-31 BC. That's over a millenia later.

Okay so if one country import big amounts of one good other country which export it must made profit. Where is that profit? Ancient Lebanon must be Atlantis for Egypt then.

Also in Egypt we will have deficit.

Its economic.

Also questionmark you didnt understand they needed big amounts of wood for mortar/cement.

When I say cement add water and some aggregate and you have concrete.

It would be safer to say, there would be a facade if the mortor was still intact.

I believe I've said it before, but now I'm completely convinced.

You, sir (or madam - I'm too lazy to check,) are no mental case. :D

I would read up on the different types of cement before posting something like that... somebody could figure that you may have an opinion about everything but that it does not match your knowledge.

To get concrete you need either Portland cement developed in 1842 or you need Smeaton cement, developed in 1780 or you need Roman cement that was not developed until ~300 BC after the discovery of the properties of pozzolan, a substance you can only mine on two small Greek islands in the Mediterranean area. Another non-starter.

Im not in worry because of all orthodox sceptics here, I knew I will be beaten there. :) It was a joke.

Anyway, wood mystery is still here.

Melo... have you read much of anything in this forum in the past few years? I know you've been involved in forums where the above concerns have been addressed by Kmt_Sesh and I'd really hate for him to feel unappreciated and stop posting.

I love his long winded info dumps on this forum. S'bout half of the reason I come here anymore.

In the case of Egypt, it had a surplus of goods. That's what you trade with. Egypt used this surplus of goods to trade to other countries that needed or wanted the surplus for supplies. It was an exchange of goods, Egypt was prospering and had more food than they needed.

As for their mortar, part of the preparation included wood. Large quantities were used in building the pyramids.

You ever heard for Opium wars. Egyptians need for wood would be British need for tea.

Ofcourse I read. Just you never give answers on some valid questions. But its okay, I understand you cant give them.

"Valid questions?"

I've not seen any that weren't addressed.

You stoop to fabrications now in order to maintain your skewed worldview.

You haven't.

Particularly egregious here where I know it's been addressed before with you asking the same questions, but particularly when you posted the famine stela stating it dated to Djoser when your own link established it as being from Ptolemies rein.

The idea is that hundreds of these cranes at various levels on the pyramid were used to lift the blocks. One problem with this theory is that it would involve a tremendous amount of timber and Egypt simply didn't have forests to provide the wood. Importing so much lumber would have been impractical. Large timbers for shipbuilding were imported from Lebanon, but this was a very expensive enterprise.

Now add to that wood as fuel...

Most of your questions have been addressed and answered several times now. It does indeed seem as though your plumbing posts and searching out only what you want to see. I don't think that's actually the case, but it seems that way now.

The wood, for instance. How many times does it need to be answered? I and others have provided the information. Egypt possessed plenty of trees along the Nile River, and what more it needed it imported from ancient Byblos in Lebanon.

Egypt did not conquer Byblos. There was no need to. The two polities had good relations from the start. Our earliest textual evidence for trade between Egypt and Byblos dates to the reign of Sneferu, father of Khufu, but on archaeological grounds we know the Egyptians must have been trading with Byblos for several centuries before that. Why is this so difficult to understand? It was an economic exchange that benefited both polities. Byblos was a timber supplier to many kingdoms of the ancient Near East.

I'm not attempting to gues your motivation, if you have one. I am instead pointing out you seem to be ignoring anything that doesn't suit your view.

What's your response to the date of the Famine stela?

Also, apparently we hnow have facebook and Yahoo interested in this thread.

I don't know if you're really joking. You've included the topic of concrete or cement in several posts.

For your own sake, let it go. It isn't realistic. The Egyptians did not make things out of cement. Some folks like Joseph Davidovits used to argue in favor of the "concrete pyramid" but the whole idea has been roundly debunked.

Trust me, it's not worth entertaining, much less pursuing.

Okay, listen guys this isnt your playground. I search for some answers here and didnt found any normal and logical answer. If you are bored with answering just simply stop doing it. Skip the thread. So what because you few have same point of view , we others should be scared for writing around. Yeah right. What you think who you are? My opinion is that you dont have answer so lets made level up and start personal attack. I ask some new questions. Or maybe I didnt but someone must be using others words with same meaning to ask them. But this is gone too far. I will not answer to those (sorry for saying this) stupid posts.

I will post here. Maybe someone else beside you (minority imho) will join here and answer them.

You also have ignore button. Be free to add me any time. :tu:

I think tempers are getting a bit too heated here. I get that you're frustrated, Melo, and I understand why. You don't like the answers we're providing. And we get frustrated because we've provided the answers, most of which are in concordance between several of us, but you don't seem to want to consider them. Calling our answers "wrong" isn't going to cut it. Prove that they're wrong.

I say "prove" because the research is out there. Things such as trade with Byblos and exchanges between Byblos and Egypt have been extensively researched and evidenced. The availability and procurement of wood has been similarly researched, obviously. The absence of concrete in pharaonic construction is obvious and is beyond questioning, in spite of fringe websites. Et cetera.

We could go on all day doing this, but I wonder what the point would be? You're an intelligent guy. We don't need to spoon-feed you. I and others can suggest references that you can seek out and read. I myself would favor books over websites, but the answers are there. Pretty much every question you've posed in this thread, as I recall, can be or has been answered by professional research. It would be incumbent upon you to make the effort to do the reading and studying. Simply dismissing orthodox research out of hand is not acceptable, nor will it serve you. Such tactics have been employed by cladking and others at UM and we all know how little credibility they had among us.

How are we to move forward from this point, then? I'm willing to continue the debate.

What does this mean, ShadowSot? Why would people on Facebook or Yahoo care about this discussion?

A sincere question, by the way. I'm just rather clueless about such things. I actually have my own Facebook page...and rarely even use it.
