meteor coverup? 2012

I for one disagree with the whole 2012 thing but this seems highly fishy. A meteor landed in Guatemala, the Mayan land, on April 7th. Any time anything breaks through the atmosphere its front page news, however this is almost unheard of. People are likening this to a sign of take heed by the Mayans. Many suggest the government, not wanting public insanity, is letting it go unnoticed.

Too many amateur astronomers see them.Actually, it is the amateurs whom seem to find them before anyone else does, and report it......

No way anyone can see all of them........No way the Government can hide them either.

Well,You do know they will not tell people because of mass histeria and there would be death and destruction even before a Meteor hit.You know what the scariest thing on this planet is? It's MAN. The government would not and will not Anounce such News untill it is almost upon us due to the fact that people will start to panic and then they will riot then they will began to kill one another attacking everyone and everything .Only problem is there will be no place to hide if a/the big one does hit and causes world and Atmophere destruction.

As for the meteor that crashed in Guatemala, wonder if it is a sign of things to come.

Try this again......

It is not the Government whom finds meteors and asteroids.....It is AMATEUR ASTRONOMERS.......That means people like me and you, with telescopes in our back yards.

I can not recall how many have been found and named by people like me and you.

There is no way to hide a meteor coming to earth.......Sorry.

True, I thought I said that in my first reply....I think, not sure now....

A few years back there was one rather close to Earth, and not seen until about a week before the " near miss "......Now " a few years " could be 2, or could be 15...My memory sucks.

Not many things come up on news or news papers these days its only limited. Other then that there is some cases the data is shown and later deleted, it also goes with quakes data as well some things was not much to talk about. Its how the socialism works around medias and etc.

I don't know if I've ever seen the government announce the crashing of a meteor? Why would this time be any different? Also, I can't remember a time where it was front page news as there is always something more important going on.

Glad to hear it.

but this seems highly fishy.

Why? Read on..

A meteor landed in Guatemala, the Mayan land, on April 7th.

There are *reports* of that, but if it is in a remote area, there may be no actual evidence of it. Without video or images, the mainstream media couldn't care less.

Any time anything breaks through the atmosphere its front page news

Like Narcisse, I disagree, and would ask you to show some evidence that backs up this claim. I personally saw a fireball of similar appearance to the example given about 2 weeks ago, and despite me living in a metropolitan location, it wasn't reported at all on the local news, let alone front page or worldwide.

People are likening this to a sign of take heed by the Mayans.

WHICH PEOPLE are those? Anyone credible?

Many suggest the government, not wanting public insanity, is letting it go unnoticed.

'Many'? Or just you? I'm beginning to doubt that you meant that preliminary comment you made.. May I suggest you get outside and do some skywatching for a few hours, say twice a week, from a dark location. Note the frequent meteors, and the occasional 'big one'. Don't be afraid of the sky, and learn how frequently meteors and spacecraft debris put on a little show.

BTW, there is a certain irony of you posting a media link and then complaining that it is being covered up..

Finally, and rather embarrassingly, I have to now ask where did the ABC7news link come from - it's a pretty picture, but it rang a bell with me. And sure enough it ISN'T anything taken from Guatemala. Here is the original image which has been 'commandeered' (aka stolen) and misrepresented at the ABC site. How did you find that image..?

(I'll be reporting its misuse.)

Which Government? Mexico, Honduras, Belize, Panama, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Cuba?

..it's always something, isn't it? hehe

of course these things are possible, all we can do is hope i suppose,

something that irritates me though.. because you know when you see stuff on FOX and CNN, it's bull****.. so they covered these meteors, fireballs, whatever as 'april meteors' like they're some kind of regular [censored] weather event or something..?

even if they were slightly a regular phenomena.. they never covered it like this before?.. why now?

it seems to be some kind of spin..

Prove it, you're saying everytime a meteor enters the atmosphere it makes front page news.

Have you bothered to find out how many meteors hit earth in a year?

Here is some estimates

So it's being covered up, but yet when I google recent meteor sightings 2012 I get 3/4 of a million hits, many of which seem to be news articles about meteor sightings - that's one hell of a cover up.

  • 2 months later...

I saw a meteor the other night, it looked absolutely massive and had a green and orange tail, at first I assumed it was a firework but nope, it was a meteor. If something that tiny (I'm assuming it was only about the size of a small stone, if that!) can be so noticeable burning up in the atmosphere / streaking across the sky, I sincerely doubt anyone would be able to cover up an even bigger chunk of rock hurtling towards us!

Actually most meteors are only the size of a grain of sand. However even reasonably bright meteors are generally not noticed during the day. A fairly large lump of rock could easily fall to the ground and not be noticed, but that doesn't mean anyone is covering anything up.
