It had been thought the whippet had been killed by a black leopard, but a series of tests on the dog's body showed no traces of leopard DNA. Big cats have been sighted in Wales The hairs found in the dog's mouth also did not match those of a leopard, Rural Development Minister Michael German announced. emmy Posted January 31, 2003 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2003 There is also evidence that other hairs could be from a badger The dog being attacked and killed by a badger is possible, it may have disturbed the badger sett or it may of been a female with cubs feeling threatened by the dog, they can be quite ferocious when threatened and are strong enough to kill a dog the size of a whippet, which is lacking on the muscular side.
