He referred to actual country called Macedonia, situated up north of your country, populated with Macedonians and quite significant number of Albanians.

Though Serbian, Bulgarian and Greece extreme nationalists all have pretensions to claiming the whole Macedonia or at least ripping a part of her for them, it’s not likely to happen anytime soon. Because people who have finances that enable them to wage wars are not interested in detonating the Balkan gunpowder barrel. Yet.

I wouldn’t look forward to the day when they change their minds and let Macedonian Albanians merge with Albania, thus setting off the brotherly Orthodox war for scraps of Macedonian territory.

In short, this is not the time for nationalist chest-thumping, in case you haven't noticed it.

Ι overlook that insult you made to me, by calling me a nationalist. I'll only say, that Greece will never claim the land of Macedonia, because real Macedonia is Greece. Greece is not looking to have a war with neighboring countries, even Fyro'm', even though we know that a bunch of Slavs have occupied a part of Macedonia (because Macedonia is not only the part, that Greece has on its own). So, i'm saying again that no country is named Macedonia and will be named thus in the future :)

All Balkan nations indeed are on the verge of fighting the others, because they all claim the land of Macedonia, but i hope that i won't see a war or something like that, until i die! I wouldn't feel like to go to other countries and start slaughtering people, just because they claim parts of Greece. Killing is not the solution. Studying History is.

P.S. I apologize for looking like a nationalist. I didn't mean to ;)

Wanna bet? ;)

There’s more Baranya in Hungary than there’s Baranja in Croatia, but nevertheless, Barania exists on both sides of the border.

If Hungarian Baranya would suddenly decide to secede from Hungary, Croatia would say: So what? and certainly wouldn’t demand Hungarian Baranya to change its name into Former Part of Hungary Because We Would Like It Back Though It Never Was Ours And We Also Don't Know How.

Slavs are a generous bunch. That explains why we are there where we are throughout the history.

I’m done hijacking this thread, unless you want me to continue?

I'd rather not continue talking in here. Personal messages would be more preferable ;)

you only have to look at the latest EU budget meeting, were all the poorer members who cream off the money like Poland for example were in favour of a contribution rise of 8%, Poland receives €10 billion from the EU, no wonder they're in favour of a budget increase. along with Greece, Hungary Spain and Portugal etc..

You really don't understand the EU do you.

Repetitive use of words like "creaming off" have no value in the European Union. You have to able to start looking at Europe as ONE. Not several countries creaming off each other, they're one.

Just like no one would say California is creaming off New York (not implying California is doing worse than New York, just an example to make a clear point)

this is why the EU will never work in its current state, this is why they now openly talk of a federal EU. with everything centralised, listening to the EU debate one MEP Joseph Daul said, we need a budget increase to continue to build infrastructure, because all roads dont lead to Rome but to the capital of europe Brussels. :innocent:

They've ALWAYS talked about a federal EU. This isn't a new concept. EVERYBODY IS IN ON IT okay. Stop pretending like suddenly some guy in Europe has hit us with this concept no one suspected.

i fully understand the EU. at present Europe isn't ONE, as you seem to think, far from it. the reality of the situation is we have the countries who i have named above receiving more than anyone else.

You only had to watch the conference regarding the EU budget. It was great that Sweden, the Netherlands, and ourselves UK stuck together over the budget, along with Germany somewhere in the middle. but more than likely coming down on the side of austerity.

It should surprise no-one the socialist French want a budget increase. along with the 'creamers' just look at France it as a unsustainable economic plan that would not work without EU backing. French farming, the next time your in France just look at the size of the farms. in Britain they'd be classed as small holdings. in France if the farmer dies and he as two sons, under French law the farm is split in two, if you go forward a few generations you can see how these farms become smaller and smaller - with these farmers incomes relying on subsidies from the EU and the voting power they have due to their ever increasing numbers any French politician/government is going to court their vote. just cast your mind back - any word on reforming French farming/subsidies and they are out in force in the streets on their tractors blocking all the major roads and seaports.

so this one europe you seem to imagine is nothing of the sort. we have the ones doing well from EU membership, receiving the most from the EU financially - and then you have the ones who are footing the bill. and yet you still expect them to contribute more even though at home everyone is having real term cuts/austerity measures.

The 'Creamers' receive the most from the EU budget. why should i as a British tax payer face cuts to my services and standards at home just so the countries below can have a increase of 8% to the figures below.

Poland €11.7 Billion

Greece €4.8 Billion

Hungary €4.49 Billion

Spain €3.8 Billion

Portugal €3.2 Billion

Belgium € 3.3 Billion

has for the use of the F-word in the EU. here am talking about the word Federal The leaders of the member countries avoid the world Federal/Federation in regard to the EU like the plague. in fact the EU parliament as never used the word federal in a official speech because the EU is not a federation. we all suspected this was the ultimate goal. you can even search these boards - whenever i've challenged the pro-EU members and stated the ultimate goal of the EU was a federation or EUSSR they always denied it. the first use of the world federal or federation used by the EU commission was on 12th September 2012. when the EU outlined for the first time a move towards a federation which would require a new treaty.

You obviously do no understand the principle of Britain benefiting from others doing well.

If countries in Europe do well, they are all beneficial to each other. Understand this.

i understand that the UK can benefit from others doing well, it begs the question why the hell are we still in EU, because the majority are clearly not doing well. even after all these years and billions spent, we have a chasm between member countries economies, the gap grows. just look at the situation today.

Lets look at the world and see who is doing well, the BRICS for example lets target these markets and the benefits they bring, and available today. compared to the EU, let others pay, pay and pay again in a vain attempt at dragging the weak economies of europe to a point were they become remotely attractive, lets face the facts the EU understands it as no chance of achieving under the current framework this is why they want to move towards a federal union with everything centralised where countries become states and what of the price - the price of joining a federal union is something the UK will not pay.

so lets stop this folly, why pay for roads in vilnius, sewers in warsaw? - let the others pay for it, it wont be long before they get bored of it all, today just ask the Germans what they think of paying for others time and time again, the game is up.

just as Brazil etc.. doesn't pay for the roads in vilnus and sewers in warsaw but they still trade with the EU, a position the UK should take, but before that go bash the Brazilians.

The UK should trade with the EU on the same terms as the US, Brazil, India, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Russia etc.. its now time to leave this EU political union, let them who remain members drag themselves one by one into the mire. - we made the right decision in not joining the EURO, which is fact - if we had done we'd have been finished. and the same applies to further EU integration.
