Agenda 21 -- Sustainable Development -- “Think globally, act locally”

Alabama banned it. The Republican National Committee (RNC) officially opposes it. Even a group of Democrats has now joined the fight. And the movement to stop it is growing stronger every single day. Twenty years after the United Nations birthed the global “sustainable development” scheme known as Agenda 21, its tentacles have stretched across America into every level of government. But the battle to stop it is in full swing.

I/m not surprised that my home State would ban such a monstrosity. Anything that the UN does is suspect here.....

It's hilarious that the article quotes someone commenting about the media not giving both sides of the story...in an article that only talks about how all these people agree that Agenda 21 is socialist, limits freedom and is evil, without explaining any cons or pros about it.

Also I'm interested to find out if Arizona does end up banning it, since I'm moving there :D

This should be moved to conspiracy theories as it has nothing to do with reality.

There isn't an Agenda 21?

Places that want reasonable, sustainable development because they'd rather ensure the resources (and economy that goes with) are there for future generations will eventually win that race against those that feel they have a right to plunder the land until nothings left.

Still, you won't win many over in the US if the blue hats are behind it. They could end all the wars in the ME, discover a way to make energy for .000001 cent a kw, invent a 300 mpg 300 hp engine and and the US media would still find ways to take shots at them. Especially in the south.

I agree. This is why rational people oppose Agenda 21, because it takes control of natural resources away from indigenous people who live on the land, and gives control of natural resources to irresponsible multinational corporations and their United Nations troops.

History shows that indigenous people take care of land because they want their grandchildren to have a place to live. History shows that Czars in a capital thousands of miles away tend to rape the environment.

Please support good stewardship of the environment, not raping it. Please.

Agenda 21 has 300 pages (approx 351 in PDF & HTML) divided into 40 chapters, grouped into four main sections:Section I: Social and Economic DimensionsThis section is directed toward combating poverty, especially for developing countries, changing consumption patterns, promoting health, achieving a more sustainable population and sustainable settlement in decision making.Section II: Conservation and Management of Resources for DevelopmentIncludes atmospheric protection, combating deforestation, protecting fragile environments, conservation of biological diversity (biodiversity), control of pollution and management of biotechnology and radioactive wastes.Section III: Strengthening the Role of Major GroupsIncludes the roles of children and youth, women, NGOs, local authorities, business and workers and strengthening the role of indigenous peoples, their community and farmers.Section IV: Means of ImplementationImplementation includes science, technology transfer, education, international institutions and financial mechanisms.
So basically, it's an agenda to reduce the exploitation of the third world by the first world, and prevent the depletion of natural resources by stopping unsustainable practices. Doesn't surprise me that some people in America oppose it.

I thought it was supposed to limit the irresponsibility of these corps and STRENGTHEN the rights of indigenous populations?
