"You didn't build that"

Ok, let's stop hiding behind words. Obama meant what he said, either way you want to look at it. Social capitalism is better than greedy capitalism. Free health care for all is just around the corner. The Repubs are frozen in place, like a deer in the headlights. They see the direction Obama is taking this country and they are trying to block him at all cost.

Obama promises a living wage for everyone that wants to work. This election is pretty simple, social compassion or greedy capitalism.

It won't be free.

I can't really blame them for blocking Obama at all costs if they don't like the direction he is taking the country.

Do you always believe a politicians promises?

Myles, I would blame them for blocking every little thing that hleps us little folks. What they are doing is destroying our nation by being *******s or at last bickering little five year olds. They need too grow up and get things done since in the real world aultds tend to compise a lot more then they do.

Anyone that will compromise their core beliefs has no core beliefs. I do not think people that do not have core beliefs make good leaders as they tend to waffle alot and end up going with whatever the last person they talked to says.

No the point was to refute the Republican claims that they created successful businesses all by themselves.

This is such a flimsy argument.

So technically, the Batman Massacre guy couldn't have murdered 12 people without Roads.

Yes, and we all now know who built roads. Thanks government. Thanks Obama. The guy travelled your roads to kill people and rigged his apartment with things he bought from your Internet. That's how retarded the you didn't build that speech is. Both gratitude and blame can be pointed in infinite directions. Wouldn't recognizing personal responsibility and personal achievement just make more sense?

Taking credit for everything comes with the price of accepting responsibility for everything too. Ha!

Here's another one for the awestruck liberal mind to think about.... not that it's their brain they're using to connect sentences together with.... some GOV teacher, roads, bridges and the internet did that.

That would be true. IF the shooter was claiming that he killed those people all by himself.

However we ALL know that the 2nd amendment and lack of gun control had a large part in it. So yes, we all had a part in that as well.

Bah. It is not that simple. Obama is as capitalist and panders to as many uber-capitalists as Romney does. It is just that the Uber Capitalists think they can manipulate Romney more then Obama.

I like how you say the Republicans are Frozen, yet they are trying to block Obama at all costs? Which is it, inactivity, or frantic activity?

Russia was communist. Very dishonest communists. Butu if you could point to one thing that took them down more than anything else it was their war machine. Countries Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Japan, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Italy and nowadays even China are pretty much socialist. Most of them aren't doing as bad as we are right now.

Really? Are we going to use Spain and Italy as examples? Iceland isn't far behind those two. Belgium doesn't even have a proper government.

There is nothing wrong with Socialism. All nations have socialist aspects and traits to them.

Actually Russia and the USSR were NOT communist. They never reached communism, which is where everyone is equal. Technically the USSR was run by the Communist Party Chiefs who lived in High style, and it is common knowledge that everyone was not equal. Having 99.9% of everyone living at the edge of poverty is not equality for all, it is even worse then the disparity that we see in the US today.

So technically, the Batman Massacre guy couldn't have murdered 12 people without Roads.

Excellent agruement!! It is plain naiveity to claim that businesses exist due to the help of infrastructure. If that is true, then since we've mostly had Republican Presidents the last 30 years, then it Must Be that the Republicans built all businesses.

That would be true. IF the shooter was claiming that he killed those people all by himself.

However we ALL know that the 2nd amendment and lack of gun control had a large part in it. So yes, we all had a part in that as well.

I was not aware he was admitting to all the infrastructure help he got. So far he's not aditting he killed anyone, AFAIK.

Some people attribute natural resources to the gods, or a God or mother nature. If we didn't have the natural resources we have, in the US, very little would have been accomplished too. People made roads before there was a government and they would have continued do so without a government. Someone, not the government, invented all of the types of road surfaces that have been used over the years since dirt and cobblestone. The government bought those products and took it upon themselves to take over the job of building roads.

Which came first...the chicken or the egg?

Obama's not claiming that Government is the sole creator of anything (save the backbone of the internet).

The Egg. Why?

I don't believe I mentioned Obama. I commented on the current conversation and different people's outlooks on what he said.

That was a rhetorical question.

You know there is a Buddhist teaching which goes something like this.

When you look at a cup, what you see is really "empty". The cup itself has no value. What is of value, is the labourer who dug the clay, the potter who moulded the cup, the man who created the potters wheel and the oven the cup was baked in, the coal or wood that stoked the flames and those that mined or cut the trees in the forest for the wood, those that provided the paint and sealants. We are the result of cause and effect, always a chain of events that lead to an outcome - the value lies in the chain itself.

As has been said, this is the embodiment of what it means to be a society.

So you suppose no businesses are ever started in Somalia?

I see what you probably mean... Everyone in the US uses the infrastructure. But if someone wants to take credit for the infrastructure, then maybe they should also take credit for all the other various things the infrastructure supports. Maybe someone should give a speech, "All that Porn on the internet? I did that!"

It all depends what you call business, the holding hostage for ransom and piracy seem to work quite well there... but I guess that you need no government for those to thrive.

I defended Bush quite often when he wasn't being show the respect due to the President.

So, can you say that you are part of the solution, or part of the problem?

This whole thread, is exactly what is wrong with politics today. Taking things out of context and being disrepectful is completly acceptable, as long as the 'other' guy did it first.
