Neil Armstrong recovers after heart bypass surgery

Former US astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to land on the Moon, is recovering after undergoing heart bypass surgery on Tuesday.

Mr Armstrong, who turned 82 on Sunday, had surgery to relieve four blocked coronary arteries.

As commander of the Apollo 11 mission, Mr Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the Moon on 20 July 1969.

In a statement, Nasa administrator Charles Bolden wished the "true American hero" a quick recovery.

He would have a strong heart, is my guess.

I admire his humility. You don't see him on 'Oprah Winfrey' every 10 minutes or 'Entertaintment This Week' every second day, like half of these show ponies.

Get well soon Mr Armstrong.

That's pretty good for him at that age considering most people have that problem a lot earlier in life with Heart disease. Regardless, it's never a good thing to have heart problems at any age, period. But it's been a common problem, worldwide for a long time now.

I hope he makes it to a hundred and then some.

I hope that he makes it many more years as well.

But, after the day when he does pass, I think that it would be fitting (if his family thinks likewise) that through some future moon mission, his remains would one day be scattered there.
