I know many hypocrites, lots of them. I've been called one before, probably with just cause.

But there is no law saying that a hypocrite cannot be correct on any given issue.

Exposing government crimes should be grounds for a National Medal, but it's not. Indeed, some would like to shoot the messenger, better yet hang him, instead of stopping the government crimes, or at least punishing the law breakers.

Hey. I have NO PROBLEM with disclosing government crimes. But to blatantly disclose government secrets when there is no crime is insanity.

He needs to answer questions himself about possibly breaking the law....and he needs to go to Sweden to answer those questions. If he has done nothing wrong and they let him go, good on him, if not, tough. You want the law breakers in government punished, and him to circumnavigate the law as he see's fit. He's a hypocrite.

I would imagine Equador would be an easy place for him to come to an unfortunate fatal accident

Why do people want him dead? bit OTT isn't it........i'm sure if he had seriously brought countries to a point of war through his wikileaks antics, or leaked highly sensitive material relating to military projects etc then he'd already be propping up a fly-over somewhere....

He's just an irritant, grandstanding about his own self importance...he just needs to be sent to the country that wants to question him - he's not a British citizen, he's not our problem.

Perhaps, but he is viewed as a prince of the left, so it's in their interest to help protect him, if he makes it to their soil.

Assange was smart, he timed this move to coincide with the Olympics, in part I suspect, knowing full well that the Red Coats wouldn't want to divert attention away from this situation.

Common sense says that it should be in the interest of the British to get rid of Assange. Why make him the example?

Let him go to Equador. We need more revealing data on how the Beast operates.

just raid the Ecuadorian embassy its only bloody Ecuador. this situation could have been dealt with within an hour. the police could have raided the embassy arrested him, and flown him out to sweden, it would have all been done and dusted.

He has announced he will leave the embassy tomorrow at 2pm GMT.

I hope then stun gun him.

He isnt coming out he is making a statement from the balcony. However watching the build up this could get interesting as the balcony is in dispute whether it is still embassy ground or British soil.

Apparently the Ecuadorians only have a couple of offices in that building. The hallway and stairs are communal and are being constantly policed. Must be pretty boring in there lol.

It easy to invoke breaking international law until retaliation sees many British Embassys meeting the same fate. Not sensible.

Which nations would close British embassies?

Iran? Its already closed

North Korea? Its already closed

Ecuador? Of no loss to us

Argentina? Such a big loss lol

Most the world does not support Assange its a few tree hugging conspiracy theorist nuts that support him along with Britains and Swedens enemies.

exactly could spark another Falkland Islands debate. Ecuador might be small but it is very powerful and along with Venezuela, it does not go down without a fight

Honestly, I find this a complete case of "shooting the messenger". What needs to be dealt with is who leaked the info to Wikileaks in the first instance? And why?

The potential to prevent future leaks lies in dealing with those weaknesses, not the fact that there was a willing recipient for the information.

Hey. I have NO PROBLEM with disclosing government crimes. But to blatantly disclose government secrets when there is no crime is insanity.

It's apparently quite true that the bulk of the communications revealed were quite mundane and of no particular value except to confirm the arrogance of the US government in its relations with other countries, something we've known for years.

But amongst those communications and other material was the notorious Collateral Damage video, apparently involving Bradley Manning. That was the gunship video, in case you missed it several years ago. That was video clearly showing US pilots killing a dozen or so Iraqis who were innocent civilians and journalists, including children, and laughing about it.

Assange is PNG because he exposed these crimes. Of course we know that no murdering US troops will be punished for those crimes, nor will their commanders.

Indeed, the only person to be punished is Assange and Manning.

Welcome to the planet earth, c. 2012 in which people no longer know the difference between right and wrong, and neither does royalty.

why did he head for the Ecuadorian embassy? and not his native Australian embassy? and why are Ecuador giving protection to a man wanted on sexual-assault charges in Sweden. there is a European arrest warrant out for him. this man is a pain in the backside. the australian police have dealt with him numerous times. the man is of 'dodgy' character yet people are coming out supporting him just because of wiki leaks. some people should be questioning themselves and their judgment, if it wasnt for wiki leaks you wouldnt give a **** who assange was.

in the end he will be handed over to Sweden, i just hope after that he faces the music there, and then he's deported to the USA for charges over the leaks. and as for Ecuador, yet another south american country harbouring criminals, as for their link with argentina, this the same argentina who give 'asylum' to the members of the Nazi party. and to this day still offers asylum to criminals. :passifier:

There is no warrant for Assange in Sweden. Indeed, the first prosecutor in the case declared there was no case at all. It took a second, more politically connected prosecutor to revive the case.

He is wanted for questioning regarding consensual sex with a faulty condom. QUESTIONING. That's all. And the British government is willing to break international law regarding embassies to accomplish this questioning, EVEN THOUGH the Swedish prosecutor is not willing to go to Britain to accomplish the questioning.

He did not go to the Australian Embassy because the Aussies have clearly demonstrated they too are lapdogs to the American government who is quite angry for having been proven criminals by the actions of Assange.

It's funny how quickly a lynch mob forms up over there in Merry Olde England.

I am no great fan of Assange - indeed he seems to be a bit of a dodgy character. However I strongly suspect that he was entrapped. I also suspect that he didn't go to the Australian embassy since Australia has a strong alliance with both Britain and America and they would have handed him straight over.

Lets face it Bradly Manning has been held without trial in solitary confinement for his part. He will probably remain that way for the rest of his life. It shows that the rule of law is optional when you disclose America's dirty little secrets.

Would you willingly hand yourself over to an allie of America in similar circumstances.

As for your preference for breaking international law - please remember what you said if you ever pass through a foreign airport and they decide to hold you for questioning without just cause (as happens frequently). Do you think that international laws are not for your protection.

It is very weak as are the other South American nations.

Poor armed forces and no nuclear weapons.

What do you mean there is no arrest warrant in sweden, sweden are the ones who applied for and got a european arrest warrant, fearing he might flee sweden then issues an international arrest warrant, hence thats why the British police were after him, he then handed himself in to police they then arrested him, he appealed, and the court case as been going on for two years, he was playing by the rules going through the British justice system and then all of a sudden he broke his bail conditions - when it looked like the writing was on the wall he done a runner. the sure sign of a innocent man.

as for your faulty condom explanation, if you remember the arrest warrant states the reason for issue, - raping one woman and sexually molesting and coercing another. in total it contains several counts of rape, sexual molestation.

no lynch mob here, he was getting a fair hearing in olde' england, but he, HE chose to break his court ordered bail conditions and flee. lets not forget its up to Sweden to find him innocent or guilty of the charges not us. we only abide by the warrant. seeing that sweden is a member of the european union and signatory of the human rights laws we have no reason not to arrest and deport him for questioning by Swedish authorities

Good post.

The justice system in the UK and Sweden is fair. If he is innocent he will be found so but doing a runner when the UK Supreme Court is throwing your case out the window indicates guilt.

You can tell from the way he carried himself in todays speech that he's a narcissist. A Narcissist who not only thinks its his God given right to do Wikileaks but God given right to rape and molest any woman he chooses. The guy is an oddball and should be made to face justice.

If Ecuador gets in the way we should smash them. Britain is not weak and we wont tolerate midget nations with issues against European powers getting in our way.

Did anyone notice that when he stood on the balcony of the Ecuadorian Embassy this afternoon and delivered his speech that, when he read out the names of all those wonderful, law-abiding, free-speech-loving, beacons of democracy in South and Central America that support his cause, he mentioned Argentina twice?

No, it isn't.

It has an army of just 24,000 personnel, a navy of just 21 ships and an airforce of just 80 aircraft.

It's no match whatsoever for Great Britain.
