Ashotep Posted August 28, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2012 Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Tuesday proposed putting “bags of money” around the levees in New Orleans so that “Republicans can get rid of even more Democrats” when poor people drowned because they tried to make off with the cash.Limbaugh hopes to drown poor voters by ‘shoring up levees’ with ‘bags of money’ Has this man lost it?
Sir Wearer of Hats Posted August 28, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2012 I'm sure his defenders will either say he's been taken out of context or that it's satire.

Dr. D Posted August 28, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 28, 2012 Are there people who still listen to this idiot? Oh, I forgot, O'Reilly's still around, too, right?
lightly Posted August 28, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2012 Idiocy. I've heard some Rush copy cats `out there` on talk radio... that are even more idiotic than the master himself.
Pyridium Posted August 29, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2012 I listen to MaHaRushie 2 hours and 55 minutes a day. I heard him say that Sandra Fluke was a "prostitute..err..****". He paid the price for that one. Rush Limbaugh on the right is the same as Bill Mahr on the left. They both can say whatever they please, They are both entertainers. One man's joke is the other man's double barrel between the eyes. Let the dems drown...really?

Pyridium Posted August 29, 2012 #10 Share Posted August 29, 2012 Oh, that is right, only Bill Mahr can call Sarah Palin a c,.u..n,.t. and call it a joke...geesh.

The difference is that Maher doesn't pretend his show isn't a comedy show. Nobody listens to Rush expecting to hear a comedy show.
Pyridium Posted August 29, 2012 #12 Share Posted August 29, 2012 My bad, I am sorry. I think I understand your point. Everything Mahr says is a joke while everything Rush says is from an extremeist point of view with just a touch of hate and a dash of racism. Gotcha, thanks.
Gummug Posted August 29, 2012 #13 Share Posted August 29, 2012 So Rush Limbaugh is forbidden to inject some obvious comedy and sarcasm into his show because he's a talk show host? And Bill Maher isn't political, or accountable for his manners, because he's a "comedian"? Yeah, right...

Everything Mahr says is a joke while everything Rush says is from an extremeist point of view with just a touch of hate and a dash of racism. Gotcha, thanks. Yes... that's is exactly what I meant....[/sarcasm] So Rush Limbaugh is forbidden to inject some obvious comedy and sarcasm into his show because he's a talk show host? And Bill Maher isn't political, or accountable for his manners, because he's a "comedian"? Yeah, right... All I was saying is that the comparison between the two is that Maher's show is comedy first and foremost. It has nothing to do with the two people nor their political leanings, just their shows formats. Most people don't listen to Rush for comedic purposes (though many of his thoughts are laughable). Rush can say whatever he wants, I don't care. So can Maher, in so far as they are censored by their respective broadcast mediums. Either of them can say whatever they want, I was never arguing that. I just said that the main premise of either show is completely different. You guys need to relax. Not everything is a "liberal-islamist-socalist-communist-freedom hating-gun stealing-baby killing-media conspiracy." Every single one of you that posted in reference to Rush and Maher completely missed the point of my post. Order66 Posted August 30, 2012 #24 Share Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Don't you guys think you are going overboard? Think about this logically, what is more likely: [A] a nationally syndicated radio host goes on the air and says "let's drown poor people" or someone has taken the quote out of context? supervike Posted August 30, 2012 #25 Share Posted August 30, 2012 Cmon, I'm no Rush fan, but I've listened more than once. He's very entertaining. I disagree with most of his politics, but I enjoy listen to him blather about. He goes over the top on purpose, thus the popularity of his show. I agree with the comparision to Mahrer, or better yet John Stewart or Colbert. I enjoy the heck out of those last two as well...plus I tend to agree with alot of what they say.
