This one is from a band called Klaatu which briefly became famous due to a rumor that they were really the Beatles using another name...

This song is one of the very first songs to use a synthesized voice...

Little Neutrino (film clips from Stephen Hawkins documentary "Into The Universe")

Another new one on me.

Wow! I really enjoyed that one. thanks for sharing :)

Klaatu is one of my favorite 'obscure' bands... Their main claim to musical fame is that they wrote the song "Calling Occupants Of Interstellar Craft" which The Captain and Tenneil (sp) made famous...

another 'secret pleasure of mine' is "Horslips" (The first Celtic Rock band.).. Here's my two favorites...

"Dearg Doom" (Red Death)

"King of the Faeries" (Traditional tune they 'rocked up')

edit: oops! It was the Carpenters that covered Klaatu's Song... not the Captain and Tenneil...

Book of Invasions and The Tain are two of my all time favourite albums.

Totally fecking breathtaking.

Good heavens! A fellow "Horsehead"!

I have worn those two out completely several times over... Also "Belfast Gigs" and "Drive the Cold Winter Away"... (too bad about "The Unfortunate Cup of Tea" though - not everyone hits it out of the park every time)

I must have listened to those two albums thousands of times.

I've just tried to decide on what track to include and I just can't!

LOL, 'The unfortunate cup of tea'!!

I do love 'Time to Kill'

And

To be a little gently fried and listen to on headphones:

Sword of light

Love "Sword of Light"

From "Aliens" - I've told my brother and sisters that I want this song played at my funeral (assuming I can't figure out a way to live forever...)

"I'm just a memory..

a dream and a sigh.

But sighs can drift away,

and dreams can tell a lie.

I'm just a memory,

and memories never die"

I'm ashamed to say I'd forgotten Aliens.

Thanks for that great reminder of another great album. :)

Gotta include these guys.

I have kids in their 20's...and these guys are old enough to be my father.

Pushing 50 years together.

....and a combined age of nearly 500 ;)

The Stones are great!

Hey LD,

As you can see, we are casting our net pretty wide here, so whatever you like is going to be good with us I think ;)

Regardless how old this song is it sounds like a fresh flower every time. :D

Wow, you forget how huge RUSH were. I had a friend who played 2112 until my ears bled!

If I had a penny for every copy of that album sold........

I am going to have to replace my old 33s with cds! :(

The good news.. .Horslips won the legal case and now have all rights to their own music... So when you buy one of their CD's... all of the money doesn't go to some studio exec...

(Their web site - where you can order their cd's - they are sometimes hard to find otherwise - http://www.horslips.ie/ )

I must have listened to all the Thin Lizzy's albums a thousand times and I never get tired of them.

They sure stand the test of time in my book.

PS: The harmony solo on Romeo And The Lonely Girl is mind-blowing and is no easy thing to get synced when playing it yourself.
