Animal welfare and wildlife campaigners have opposed the cull, which farmers say is necessary to tackle TB in cattle because badgers spread the disease to livestock, but lost their fight in the High Court. The cull, which is being paid for by the farmers taking part, will allow the shooting of free-running badgers. A licence will be issued to a group of farmers and landowners who will commit to killing at least 70 per cent of the badgers on their land for at least four years in a row. This made me laugh though, The cull is opposed by the Badger Trust, which unsuccessfully blocked the cull in the Appeal Court last week. Is this possible, to unsuccessfully do something? Framers would rather kill one of the few remaining large mammals in the Uk. Also of course the 'science' behind the cull and it's effectiveness is hotly debated. Still, on the offchance that it'll work they are prepared to slaughter thousands of Badgers. Which is pretty much what a lot of farmers do on the quiet anyway. It was far to cryptic for me originally, when I watched the clip (thanks rannzie, nice to see your second post since 2009) it all became clear and gave me a good chuckle...
