ThePhantomFlanFlinger Posted September 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2012 The World Custard Pie Throwing Championships splatted down in Kent on Saturday.Dressed in colourful costumes, 16 teams of four - many having travelled from the far corners of the UK took part in the slapstick event. Standing behind tables, participants took aim at their opponents standing eight feet away. Whatever happened to The Phantom Flan Flinger... http://www.itn.co.uk/And%20Finally/56341/world-custard-pie-championship-splats-down-in-kent? Still Waters Posted September 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2012 I love custard pies, what a waste! but..... in the article it says - Rather than using real custard, the pies were made from a mixture of flour and water. So that's not so bad then! Joking aside, I do feel throwing food around for fun like that is a terrible waste when you think of all the people in the world who are crying out for something to eat. It doesn't seem right somehow to be so flippant with food.
coldethyl Posted September 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2012 And when I lived in the UK I couldn't get a glazier to travel over from the next village because it was too far away.
schizoidwoman Posted September 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2012 Whatever happened to The Phantom Flan Flinger... http://www.itn.co.uk...s-down-in-kent? A friend of mine had a neighbour who claimed to be the Flan Flinger, but we weren't convinced - I wonder if it was true!
