Debate reactions

Well, it went down as I completely expected it to. Win goes to Romney. I have a strong suspicious streak that it was scripted. Had Obama walked all over Romney, he would have lost more ground in the polls which would lead to loss of campaign contributors....loss of media money, etc. My first line of thinking as it went exactly as TPTB meant for it to go.

Now that being said, it appeared Obama's camp bit on the bait that Romney was banking on "zingers" to win the debate and that is not how he came out. Obama looked unprepared, clumsy and somewhat arrogant...as if he was perturbed he had to be there and put up with this guy questioning his policies.

I hope my guy gets a shot to be on stage in one of the two remaining debates. I'm not going to hold my breath though. Had Gary Johnson been on stage last night, that may have drawn some fire away and in some ways, it needed to happen exactly the way it happened....scripted or not.

I didn't watch it, I chose instead to spend a lovely evening at a country club with friends enjoying a delicious dinner, a gorgeous view and a spectacular sunset.

However, I do think through social media I learned something about the debate that was shocking, absolutely shocking! The people who supported Obama before the debates still support him and think he won! The people who supported Romney before the debates still support him and think he won! GASP!

And those who were undecided or don't care, still haven't decided and/or still don't care.

Pffft...

Romney didn't hit any homeruns but he racked up enough singles to win. He was so close on several occasions to knock one out but never got full extension. What got me was that all the commentators were making excuses for Obama. Romney didn’t win – Obama lost. And that's why I think even if Romney wins the next two as well, Obama is still going to win the election. I've never seen so many brainwashed sheep voting for a hack. Maybe this country deserves going Socialist? For sure we haven’t been governing ourselves as our Founding Fathers intended, so why should we care?!

I see where he had to be PC about Entitlements. But that is where Obama can attack him. Romney needs to fully express such a complex concept to the common man. Let’s admit it, getting rid of Entitlements is the goal but the other side of that is that this government has obligations that it will meet. That is why those over 55 won’t see a change. For those under 55, there are many ways to wean people off Entitlements without them losing anything. The government should have never got into the Entitlement business in the first place. It makes people dependent on the government rather than independent. And it will take several generations to fully wean ourselves off. Unfortunately, this is a long term proposition and won’t help much initially with the debt. The only fair way to deal with the debt is across-the-board cuts.

Romney definitely needs to get more into expressing the differences on philosophies. The difference between Socialism and Republic.

I cringed when he talked about clean coal. I don’t see coal as our future, but we must use what works for our needs today. Green forms are for tomorrow, they are not feasible right now. When the government no longer has to subsidize them, then will be the time to use them. When things like solar cels become super cheap so that every house and building can put them up left-and-right then we can replace coal as the major source of electricity. We’re just not there yet.

I don’t think that Romney wants to get rid of Big Bird. I think that he just wants to end the funding to PBS. Is this something the government *NEEDS* to subsidize? I’m sure the revenues from Sesame Street could fund PBS all on its own. We could also get rid of the Post Office. The internet replaces it to send email and businesses like UPS, FedEx, DHL, etc. can handle packages and other special needs.

Romneycare is definitely a thorn in his side. But as has been pointed out, Romney is for the States to handle caring for the people. Obama is for a strong centralized government. Our FFs tried to lead us away from this. There needs to be a delegation of authority to where it needs to be.

Romney really stuck it to the President when he said that when he was governor that he was able to work across the aisle to get Romneycare passed. And painfully pointed out how Obama rammed through Obamacare without support from the Republicans. You would think that with such an important bill, that you should have bi-partisan support. This shows that Obama can’t get it. Especially when you come out in public saying that he will listen to any good ideas and when the Republicans present many good ideas, they get ignored.

But the Bottom line is still jobs. After last night, which candidate leaves you with the feeling that they are capable to create jobs? Or create the environment for jobs?

None by himself.

And no matter what, they are both not strong enough leaders to persuade the "others".

No matter who gets in, there will be problems and the road to kick the can down is at its end.

We still get to hear Obama explain his foreign policy, such winners as bowing to Saudi princes, secretly arming Mexican drug cartels, covering up Al Qaida attacks in Libya, aiding and abetting the Muslim Brotherhoods takeover of the middle east and telling Israel to just go away. I could go on but I am depressing myself.

There is no way I can see anyone thinking that Obama won this debate.

Even Al Gore admits Obama was terrible. However, he blamed it on the ALTITUDE!

"Obama arrived in Denver at 2 p.m. today — just a few hours before the debate started," Gore said on his network, Current. "Romney did his debate prep in Denver. When you go to 5,000 feet, and you only have a few hours to adjust, I don't know..."

Yeah that kinda bugged me in fact. Romney touts himself as a defender of freedom, liberty, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution yet he did not address a single thing that is a very important issue to me...

Continuation of the Patriot Act

HR347

NDAA

Surveillance Drones

etc...etc...etc.

What bugs me the most is Romney appears to agree with these things...and these are deal breakers to me. These things ARE NOT in compliance with Liberty or Freedom or the Bill of Rights or the Constitution. Sure, he addressed Obamacare but considering he has already said he would overhaul it or replace it with something similar, that doesn't work for me. DO NOT TELL ME WHAT I HAVE TO BUY WITH MY MONEY!

Romney was very well rehearsed and his primary focus was and is getting elected.

Obama is in that position already and is focused on the country and thinking about other things..threats to country behind scenes and maybe even including some things more personal such as his anniversary.

Remember all the campaign strategies telling Obama he'd lose debate if he showed emotion or any anger toward Romney.

Instead of lashing out and trying to interupt I think he looked down at those times so not to be impulsive and utterly rude.

This was a stretagy mistake when body language was apparently one of the biggest topics of the debate since I see RNC is emailing me photos side by side of Obama looking down like a whipped dog next to Romney.

Might be just me, but I thought I saw a Romney's big tight smile while watching Obama speak turn into a downward scowl of like an indigestion attack and maybe even fear. Along the lines of a beauty contestant whose vaseline runs out and becomes very nervous because the fake smile won't stay in place LOL

I tend to think its part of the political strategy to hit in a later debate so the other guy is less prepared.

Obama will come out better in a later debate when his passion sets in, he's more of a natural then Romney ever was on his campaigns.

It kind of irritated me that CNN's after debate poll results included more Republicans in the samplings although they did admit to it being that way. I liked the reality check segment they aired after although I didn't agree with all the presentation of some of the facts. You still can make numbers work both ways by not looking at all the variables involved. Fox naturally focused on body language and mostly RNC people to interview. I liked C span because they seem to TRY to get the most balanced views and even include third parties to air their views.

Just remember media is media and campaigns are campaigns. Look at the issues and the personal values of the person vying for the office before voting on you and your country's destiny.

Is there a possibility that Obama lost the debate because he was in a bad mood over missing his 20th wedding anniversary?

Hell/woman/scorned, that sort of thing? Michelle's probably hoping he'll lose now, just to teach him.

Never mind, he's always got Romney waiting in the wings though...

Until last night I thought Romney was a wuss. I watched all the republican debates and Romney never really sold it to me. I never saw anything exciting. Last night though, he came out proved me wrong. He beat Obama senseless. I didn't expect so much. I also didn't really expect Obama to look like such an ameteur. He seemed helpless and only had 'fair share' talking points to utter. I expected a good fight but it looked more like when Mike Tyson had his first fight after prison with that no name white guy. It wasn't even a match. In Romney I think I seen what makes him who he is. A success. Quick, smart and prepared, controlling and commanding. It really was his stage. I don't think I could stare a president in his eyes and excoriate him like Mitt did. Pretty bold but he did what he had to do. Mr. O on the other hand, he just didn't have it. He shyed away from eye contact. He looked several times like he was just kicked in the balls. I didn't see this great arrogance no matter what the pundits say. If anything, he seemed a bit humbled by Mitts lecturing and far too polite. I thought this guy was supposed to be the man. Apparently though he is just a man. He didn't show the confidence of a commander in chief. You all know I want him out but I'll admit I was a little bit embarrassed for him. Just a little.

Btw, I hated that moderator. In fact I can't stand anyone in that position. They always annoy me. The constant interruptions for time and cutting the guys off. I understand they have a job to do but when you're interviewing for the most important job in the world you just might need more than a few minutes to tell the country what you're all about.

Never read more BS in one post in my life. Nothing but sanctimony, hubris, seething anger and wretched humiliation. Reality just hit the democrats and it sucks but at least have the guts to admit the truth will ya.

BTW, Democrats were oversampled by 4% on CNN's poll, not republicans, so no need to be irritated! :tsu: Regardless, even if they had oversampled republicans it wouldn't answer for a 67% to 25% loss unless it was a really HUGE oversample, like 80% republicans. Why would CNN oversample republicans anyways when they have been covering Barry's butt for 5 years now? Get a grip son, there are more debates to come.

Sampling is right under the humiliating graph.

Link says sample of debate-watchers in the poll was 37% Democratic and 33% Republican.

Example of how how numbers don't show all variables 37 + 33 = 70

Its the other 30%

Get a grip dad, I'm not a Democrat LOL

Why do you think I get Republican and RNC mail, emails, phome call EVERYDAY?

In contrast, I only received one phone call to date from a local Democrat asking for a vote not MONEY and told me the issues and how he plans on doing it...

Quite frankly if I sound "Nothing but sanctimony, hubris, seething anger and wretched humiliation" its because of the Republican soliciations not the debate itself!

I'm just a person looking at the issues and as well as the candidates

not like Republicans and Democrats are opposing football teams to be supported no matter what by their die hard fans!
