bee Posted October 12, 2012 #301 Share Posted October 12, 2012 That or it was planned by the ET's and knowing that people would be watching the skies that night. Of course, all conjecture, but none of us know for sure! and sadly....like all the 'biggies'....we probably never will. but it's educational, interesting and fun to TRY and get to the bottom of it anyway....
Mr.United_Nations Posted October 12, 2012 #302 Share Posted October 12, 2012 I only knew of one person, personally who lived in the Phoenix area during the time of the 1997 sighting. I asked her about it and unfortunately she told me she was gambling at a casino during the whole thing! Which debunks the ET theory
Bionic Bigfoot Posted October 12, 2012 Author #303 Share Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) And because people were to staggered too do so. Don't forget that even though it was travelling slowly compared to an aircraft the whole show would have still been over in around a minute or so. PS your in good company BF. Thanks Zoser and I agree. From any specific vantage point, the fly-over might have been too quick for some to run for their cameras. I'm also sure that many weren't totally convinced either of what they were seeing and weren't aware at the time of the significance of the sighting. I asked her about it and unfortunately she told me she was gambling at a casino during the whole thing! I can see how that could happen. You can lose all track of time and reality in a casino. When I lived in South Korea, I used to play blackjack quite regularly for fun, with Yuri the KGB man, one of his Russian friends who never talked at all, and an American dude who worked as an Elvis impersonator. I never knew what his game was, but we all used to count cards as a team and did pretty well for ourselves. I just thought of it as a little extra income. You meet all kinds of interesting and weird people in casinos.
synchronomy Posted October 12, 2012 #307 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Of course, in March 1997 the members of the Heaven's Gate UFO cult committed suicide, thinking they were going to be taken "home" on a spaceship hidden in the Hale-Bopp comet. Their suicide was ten days after the so-called "Phoenix Lights" incidents. I would reserve the insulting term "believers" for people like these, since they really did make a religion out of UFOs, which I definitely do not. http://www.google.co...xBQqfFRED508syg There's still organizations with such beliefs around. The Planetary Activation Organization headed by Sheldan Nidle, believes the Galactic Federation are going to arrive any time now to save us from ourselves. http://www.paoweb.com/ A lot of his terms like "replicators" are pulled right from Star Trek.
booNyzarC Posted October 12, 2012 #308 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Yes, I did find the video on Youtube. Watching it again I found the section, starting around 40:00 minutes showing the v-shape, but I don't see any structure to it other than the lights. I'm not sure if this is in reference to my mention of Terry Proctor's footage or not, but the portion of the Discovery special you mention here at around 40 minutes was actually focused on Mike Krzyston's video and the analysis performed by Cognitech. About 30 seconds worth of Proctor's footage is first shown very earlier in the documentary, just after the first minute. Another section starting at about 5 and half minutes shows about 13 seconds of the footage, but I haven't taken the time to see if these overlap in any way, or if they can be spliced together for the full 43 second clip which shows the different points of the lights at different times. The video itself is admittedly very grainy, but it is better than nothing, and it does seem to be the only footage we have of the earlier events. At about 32:25, Lt. Col. David Tanaka, Maryland Air National Guard, states that on March 13, 1997 they were operating as part of Operation Snowbird. The name Snowbird caught my attention because a few posts back it was posted the the Canadian Snowbird aerobatic team was in the area that night. I've see this team perform many times and they are ace flyers performing incredible manoevers similar to the Blue Angels etc. I wonder if they were possibly being used as part of the National Guards operation...seems a bit too coincidental that both the military operation and the aerobatic team have the same name? This would certainly explain the witness accounts of formation flying taking place. Maybe this case is simply that a combination of aerial manoevers, including flare dropping, poor news media coverage, sporadic filming and photos and in particular the military's initial statement saying they were not operating, all combined to cause media frenzy. Add to that Fyfe Symingtons blunder with the alien showing up at his news conference. I don't know whether there is any kind of correlation between the naming or not. It may be just coincidental, but I don't claim to know either way. I do think there was a lot of confusion on that night and in the following days. Heck, even in the following months and years. This seems to be a natural resulting side effect from an event like this, but many like to take that confusion and use it to point a finger of blame at the government and military with conspiratorial overtones. I don't personally see any legitimate reason to take these kinds of accusations seriously in regards to this specific case, but of course they're there and probably always will be. Lunch is over, time to get back to work now. Cheers.

zoser Posted October 12, 2012 #310 Share Posted October 12, 2012 If details aren't backed and fully supported by scientific principles then the event, situation, case or phenomena is automatically bogus and case closed. Realistically our world is FULL of unknowns and science and math simply cannot definitively prove certain things. It's a deeply ingrained thing and part of cultural programming. Fortunately some have managed to escape it. I was showing a clip of Tim Edwards' famous ufo footage (taken in Salida in 1995) to a 14 year old who has never considered the subject at all. The footage is amazing if you have ever seen it. However her instant reaction was denial, that it just couldn't be ET in nature. She couldn't justify her skepticism in any way. I put it down to a narrow education that shuts down the faculties in favour of a fully pragmatic approach to life. A terrible shame.

bee Posted October 12, 2012 #312 Share Posted October 12, 2012 All very funny that it was the same night as the Hale-Bopp comet and following the same trajectory, which means more people than usual were out Watching the Skies. yes...I get your drift... also...if Hale-Bopp's trajectory was also intimately connected to the geometry of the solar system.....? but how that would fit into all I don't know.....it's already complicated enough.... TheMacGuffin Posted October 12, 2012 #316 Share Posted October 12, 2012 That's what she told me MacGuffin, she has passed away now, but at the time she said she was a serious gambler and easily distracted. It brings back memories. I do have to give my father credit for teaching me how to count cards at a young age, and also showing me how to stack the deck, deal from the bottom and all that. One time when I was about 14 he took me to Las Vegas and just left me some money after we checked into the hotel and said go have fun. He had five or six decks of cards shuffled together and practiced counting with me again. Then he disappeared for a week or two, but that wasn't unusual for him. So I was there alone in Sin City, and since I looked older no one stopped me from playing in the casino and doing other things. Here again, I just thought this was basically a "normal" childhood, at least for me.

Bionic Bigfoot Posted October 12, 2012 Author #318 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Sorry to hear about your dad's poor judgement in parenting skills MacGuffin. Sometimes though, these lessons are the best ones and if the child is capable of dealing with them. Regarding my gambling friend in Phoenix, she was a 'believer' actually, very interested and curious about the unknown. She was quite upset she missed the events that were unfolding outside the casino's walls.

I think it was all just another test and part of his "education program", which I have mentioned on here before. It was basically like he thought that "it's time to make a man out of you", at least according to his notions of these things, but he always had a plan or a strategy for everything he did. Bionic Bigfoot Posted October 12, 2012 Author #320 Share Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) By the way, did anyone or has anyone watched the video I posted at the very start of this thread? Is there anymore witnesses from the Phoenix 1997 sighting who are willing to share the details of what they saw? I'm also still waiting and looking forward to hearing back from AZDude1973. I am eager to hear more specifics about his personal eye-witness account from that night. Edited October 12, 2012 by Bionic Bigfoot

Bionic Bigfoot Posted October 12, 2012 Author #322 Share Posted October 12, 2012 Ok, yes, I do believe I've seen that footage before, I just didn't know it by its event name. Very compelling for sure and it seems as though the object is either rotating and the sun is reflecting off different angles of its metallic frame, or it's got a light on it that is blinking back and forth horizontally.
