Airship to conduct aerial search for Bigfoot

I don't think I've contradicted anything posted.

FB gave Dr. Meldrum some exposure, something they haven't done on previous seasons.

I think it is convenient considering his project on the horizon. Which is all well and good.

Moneymaker doesn't have complete control over FB.

Who is part of the Falcon Project ground crew again?

Hasn't Bobo been mentioned? The team says MM is not the shows leader, they are all equal.

Bigfoot is hot, what stops the show's creators from wanting to be part of a documentary on the Falcon Project? And thus, giving Dr. Meldrum some airtime for their own purposes?

It is smart for Dr. Meldrum to take any offers for exposure, imo.

You would think that Animal Planet, being a part of the Discovery Channel family would be interested in education. Apparently not so much.

I think that's the way they (Discovery Channel) started out started out. Originally they were formed and owned by NetStar, then Canadian TV bought a controlling share in them, 80% and oddly ESPN Inc. owns 20% of them. So they have their two major owner who are into ratings and the cash they generate from those ratings via advertizing. Sadly, it's all about money when it comes to TV, always has been probably always will be. Now what I find interesting is a number of these so called "Bigfoot experts" keep sort of popping up here and there on the show. The BFRO has a lot of members and access to a lot of potential encounter sights which makes it a little easier to make a show. Keep in mind it's TV and TV is all about keeping the ratings up, if you can check which shows generated the most ratings then odds are that's the kind of stuff you're going to see more of or a lot more of the next season.

Education is all well and good, take a good hard, close look at the nut job Captain of the "Sea Shepard" going out to do battle with the dark forces of the Japanese Fishing Fleet to protect the whats. Sooner or later they're going to try something in open waters and the Japanese are going to surprise them by sinking their ship. No, fact is you attack a ship on the high seas, that Captain has the right to defend his ship against all boarders and all threats. Personally, I think they're hoping for an armed confrontation ".......And Discovery was there, cameras rolling....." What's educational about glorifying conflict......oh yeah, it teaches kids that fighting for a "higher purpose" is all noble and stuff. Funny, I was told that stuff back in Nam as well, how'd that work out you ask? Not too good.

Not really surer what my point was, kind of tired...

I see Moneymaker saying the project will not work...( Matt Moneymaker is the President of BFRO, so they are not all equal )

Then I see Moneymaker using Meldrum on his entertainment show........( the fact that Jeff would be on a show that uses disco balls and a " rage " party scene to attract Bigfoot tells me a lot also, who takes those guys seriously?......Bad move I think on Jeffs part, unless the project is not to find anything, but to make fame and money )

But again, I have seen plenty of frauds, lies, stretching of truth, all to get money and fame, and Moneymaker is almost all ways right there.

I am not 100% sure who is from where on the project, other then what NW pointed out. Bobo is on some other team that yes, is the ground team for the falcon project, ( Bobo not mentioned yet ), and as mentioned, this is a sad thing.

I think a project like this ( as pointed out ) needs people that are not running on blind faith, or that are not entwined in the Bigfoot rage. A Game Warden, a Biologist, a regular Joe ( hunter from area ), and a expert on the Wildlife of the area ( Game Warden Department ). Not just a bunch of people that think every noise, impression, or story is " Squachy "...

I had hopes this project would be legitimate, but with the " Documentary " talk, and the shared information that if anything spectacular was filmed, it will not be shared for free, has all put this with the " Finding Bigfoot " crowd...

But again, I do know a large bipedal creature does not walk around North America.......( lets not change the subject )

Animal Planet had " The Demon Exorcist "........They have no interest in educating anyone. They did receive a ton of emails about that though, and it was not extended to anymore episodes.

He might not, but he is the guy who got the BFRO cranked up and it was Moneymaker who pitched the idea for the show to Discovery. So while on the show their all supposed to be equal, my guess would be that MM is a little more equal. Someone always has to lead.

Bigfoot is hot, what stops the show's creators from wanting to be part of a documentary on the Falcon Project? And thus, giving Dr. Meldrum some airtime for their own purposes?

That might be more convoluted an answer than you'd think. Discovery probably wants broaden that base since Bigfoot is hot ratings wide, but they need to figure out who's going to do well on TV and who won't so they have certain people show up as guests on FB and see how well they track rating wise. Tv's been doing that ever since I can remember. How Moneymaker feels about it I can't say but I'd bet you a dollar he's not happy about it.

Meant to say, I never thought you contradicted anything, just thought maybe you guys missed the part about moneymaker not thinking the project would work.

My apologies if it came off wrong.

Personally, I've always thought if you could get funding via some source that doesn't depend on the sensationalism for ratings it would be better. However, that seems to only happen in the movies, but who knows someone might do something like win a lottery and that person might be into the whole Bigfoot thing and be willing to underwrite the cost to do a proper job without the burden of making a TV show and the pressure that that sort of thing generates.

However, if you get to checking, all the people who associate themselves with the BFRO have to agree to their terms of what they're going to do in order to accomplish that goal. Hell, if you even mention hunting or guns or anything like that over on the BRFO website then suddenly you get edited and a nasty email from one of their seriously Holier-than-thou moderators. I know, I got the third one and left the site as a poster, I do still pop over and see what they're talking about from time to time but once you take away the stuff about the show and the "fan mail" sort of postings you aren't left with much really.

It is a funny subject chock full of colorful characters. And “sense” isn’t something I look for much anymore. They've all got a lot of splainin' to do!

I hope this is ringing true for their audiences as well. Maybe these shows are doing something for logic, common sense, and science in their own roundabout way.

HoHoHoHo! …brain fart…

Oh well, one can only hope.

A rave?! A rave?! Seriously?

It's all relative really. I have no doubt they truly believe what they're saying and unfortunately they have a show on Animal Planet which sort of gives them an air of officialism by default.

Yes, a rave...

Bobo claims that many sightings of Bigfoot at out door raves in Northern California.....( I have my doubts about outdoor raves even existing in Northern California, I am not far from there )

So, the bring out a disco light, laser lights, etc. and let them rip, while they go out and scream, howl, bang trees.....

And the same kind of people are the ground crew for the falcon project.....OH Boy.

I wish I could find a list of the things they have used....I know a few.

Crying baby doll

Torch's ( Bigfoot likes fire )

100 people in a line, with a megaphone, walking through the woods to find Bif

Woman screaming ( yes, screaming like she is being raped, Bigfoots like this )

Frying Bacon ( Bigfoot likes bacon )

Here is a good read on the show....

Haha! Yeah, Sakari, thus my (Hohoho) hope that the audiences of these shows will wise up to the silly shenanigans and repeat formulas all of which result in nada, year after year after year. I'll check out the read later. .

Agree completely with the article, Finding Bigfoot is definitely a waste of time, but I know that and choose to waste my time anyway. For reasons I don't even know.

The show does makes me feel smart :P, even if admitting to watching it makes me look stupid . My dogs even roll their eyes when I sit down to watch it.

Hey, I am guilty also :)

Although, I only watch it when channel surfing, and nothing else on...But, still guilty.

Yeah, I record it and watch it late late night or when nothing else is on. It scares my daughter...The Team not bigfoot.

I see it occasionally....If I leave it on more then 15 minutes, it is to laugh really, and to see what new " idea " they have that Bigfoot enjoys.

I shake my head a lot, but, it is more a comedy show for me....Also sitting there wondering how many people are thinking it is serious?

I never had much success at learning anything new until I found others to go with. Psyche101 would be a good candidate to go with you, he's world famous for discovering the ulta-elusive Hobo-Sapien Robustus. (j/k P101). You'll have a blast with others to learn from, and them from you. You may not find evidence of a primate, but I garauntee you'll learn, and hopefully discover, something new about the world we live in.

I have a PM back from Nightwalker :D

I asked my wife over the weekend to let me know when the kids go on holidays, when it all happens, that sort of thing so I can get some dates aside to work something out.

I did like the Vermont trail cam photo from two years ago that was shown on tonight's episode.

Mama (with oil on her coat, vitiligo, or mange) and baby gathering apples off the ground.

So very Norman Rockwellian.

Same here, my kids like to watch the show and I'm constantly pointing out the subjective nature of the 'investigations'. "We heard you the first hundred times dad" is usually the response I get now though . I am not about to let them think for one moment that this is how scientific research is done.

You won't regret it if you can work it out. Good luck! I was taken to a sighting location in Sept. and found a possible shelter. It appears natural, very large, and darn near impenetrable. Maybe someone would let me borrow an airship to check it out from above?? lol.. not. I'll have to do it the ol fashion way and explore it myself when hunting season is over.

Maybe you two thought NW was joking with his book reply......

Matt Moneymaker ( Head of BFRO, Finding Bigfoot ) is arguing with the guys on the falcon project, hes says it will not work......Go back a couple pages and read again....

Matt is so full of himself. His arguements are all simple engineering issues, not "impossible feats that can never be countered". Sounds like a bunch of Sour Grapes to me. It was not his idea, he's not managing it, he has no direct input and... thus, gets zero of the credit if anything positive happens.

I am excluding Jeff Meldrum from these comments, ( for now ) I am talking the person I had named all ready on a previous post.

OK. I understand your statement now.

  • 2 years later...

I had to go back on this thread and check Meldrum's stated previous potential launch date: Spring 2013.

NEW potential "Aurora" launch date is now: Spring 2015 according to Meldrum

Funding stalled out previously but thanks to Barnes and some other benefactors including some Hollywood players, funding is back on track.

Total cost: Half-a-million dollars

Everything is here. Ship specs, etc. Meldrum's discussion of a Relic hominoid begins first after the news portion and the Aurora ship project discussion begins somewhere around 19 minutes in, I think. I haven't listened to more than a few minutes of it so far though.

https://www.youtube....eature=youtu.be

aside: Meldrum does refer to Standing as a "collegue" (date of broadcast Dec. 11) and says an experience he had while visiting with Standing was "really interesting".
