Then why in the world would NASA release the picture on the net in the first place!??

Logic and reason, people, please try and use some.

To get people used to the idea of Life on extraterrestrial planets, of course. Even if there aren't actually any Rodents on Mars*, releasing pictures like this gets people used to the idea, so that when they do reveal that they've discovered life on

We have been doing serious space exploration for the better part of 50 years. We are constantly being bombarded with science fiction movies and TV series. We are detecting extra solar planets almost every day. A total of 846 such planets (in 665 planetary systems, including 126 multiple planetary systems) have been identified as of November 8, 2012, all of them within our galaxy. Astronomers and other scientists expect that there are many billions of planets in the Milky Way galaxy.

Id say that those who arent "used to the idea" by now have been living under a rock for half a century.

No, I think its more likely that the reason why they havent told us about ET life is that they simply havent found it,... yet.
