What did we learn in this election?

Damn ninjadude I wish I had your deep pockets if you think 50+billion dollars is hardly worth talking about

out of 3550 Billion, yes. It is worth the investment for many reasons not the least of which is helping out our fellow man. 16 trillion is not hanging over your head. It's there. It doesn't have to be completely paid this year, next year, or possibly even your lifetime. It does need to be whittled down.

But, did you know that about two thirds of our foreign aid is military which falls under military expenditures?

Well we do have to pay both Iraqi sides to stop fighting each other ;) and now we're paying the taliban to stop fighting....

Exactly how much foreign aid do you think we do? I'll wait. The answer is very little. It's hardly worth talking about.

Well a veterans job bill was shot down by the Republicans because it would cost 1 billion dollars and they were not convinced of the way to pay for it. We give a billion a year to Pakistan alone. You may think it is hardly worth talking about, but it is enough money to shoot down bills in our Congress and that is just payments to one country...

Also, our base in Kyrgyzstan is their number 2 source of income, behind a little gold mind they have. Russia told them to kick us out and they told Russia to match what we were paying them. When they told them what the Americans were paying them, they said no thank you, they can stay. Granted it probably wasn't a huge amount of money by American standards, but it was a huge chunk of their economy...

I heard a somber Ann Coulter in an interview this morning, she put it the same way, as a result of this election America has reached a tipping point "the takers now out number the makers", conservatism is done in this country.

She may very well be right, as bad as it is now, as bad as Obama has been, with absolutely no record to stand on and still blew out a Republican it will probably will never matter who the Right runs any more.

We may have just witnessed the burgeoning of a one party system at least for the foreseeable future. And we are no longer a republic we have been successfully transformed in to something else ruled by a mob of leeching jackals and their enablers.

A random thought before I got to bed...

So we are made up of takers and makers or moochers and enablers...here is my question...

Where do YOU (as in the people on this forum) fall?

Are you a maker and an enabler? Do you employ people or create jobs?

If you do not, you are a taker and a moocher...

I only imagine we have a website full of business owners...

This is the problem with Ann Coulter and others that follow her beliefs. They seem to think that you are either a business owner or a moocher and apparently she seems to think that business owners are around 50% of the population. I don't know what kind of businesses she is familiar with, but in the world I live in, workers (or moochers) out number employers by a large number...then again, I don't live in the Bubble...

You can't please all the people all of the time.

I doubt if anyone goes along with everything in any political parties platform. People aren't that cookiecutter.

Oh I never expect to agree with everything... what I mean is that there are a few stances they have that are deal breakers for me. I love a lot of what of they stand for, but there's this small fraction of their platform that I just can't justify at all. So much so, I can't vote for them.

Whittled down that's freaking hilarious. let's talk numbers if we diverted all the foriegn aid too paying off the debt and if we don't add to it it will take 320 yrs to pay off without intrest

So what shall I do? Not vote? Who promotes my beliefs?

Well Hut, the first thing you do is lift the vail from your eyes, so you can see. GI joe wasnt kidding when he said knowing is half the battle. Once you have broken free from the paradigm, then you tell others. Right now no one promotes your beliefs, nor mine. Nor are they ever going to till we have a mass awakening. If you decide to take my advice you are in for a long hard battle, that you will probably lose. But anything is better then believeing a lie, where nothing ever really changes. Look Im lost, im no guide, but Im right by your side

Comrade, the TEA Party is the only hope for this country, although I do admit that the leadership that rose up was the wackos. But the TEA Party isn't about these losers. It's about Fiscal responsibility, cutting spending, and paying down the debt. I guess the TEA Party is more of a mindset, rather than a movement.

Comrade, the TEA Party wasn't what crushed Republican hopes. It was the gays, women, and minorities that were bought for a trinket.

That is setting off red flags…

We'll see what happens in 5 to 10 years. People think that GM can't go into bankruptcy this time? The only way to save Detroit would be to nationalize the auto industry. How much is that going to cost the tax payer? It's better to let it fail and then rebuild. That is what makes it healthier and stronger.

They always have. The Republican party is not what the Socialists and MSM paint them out to be. The issues were the economy and jobs, yet the President won on buy off women and gays. This is right out of Alinski.

Well, as someone else pointed out, if it weren't for Fox news America wouldn't have even known about Fast and Furious or the Benghazi fiasco.

The war is not over. There is no compromising with Socialism. There are still some people that will stand up to it. We cannot progress into the future under Socialism. What's the point to having the Constitution if we do? I'm not willing to give up my Rights as a human being, as so much of the world already has. I still believe in high ideals as American Exceptionalism and that we are a beacon of light of freedom. If we can't be that, then what's the point?

Wow, you really do not get it...but attitudes and mindsets just like yours is why GOP failed so miserably! The idiotic comments like it was the women and gays got him elected....what is wrong with you people? it was Fox News, it was Tea Party mindsets, it was anger, it was racism, it was pettiness and patheticness and the religious extremism that cost Romney a really good chance at the White House. When did the right become so delusional? so pathetic and so whiny.............and so damn embarrassing? I hope the moderates and the sane ones start speaking up to the screwballs of their party. I hope Boehner meant what he said, but with the history of the last 4 years...........time will tell.

If you are running for office...and you want the majority vote.. Wouldn't it be wise to look at how the country is and the population? The US is built out of diversity - Gays, blacks, whites, Asians ect...and a lot of strong women ... What you do not do is go against what your country is built on

If I voted against immigration... women's rights, along with gays...I would have shot myself in the foot and wasted a lot of time, money and energy for nothing...That is what Romney and his party did... Obama could have coasted this by singing nursery rhymes to the public and still won... Romeny backed the wrong horse ..It's a shame he did...It was a stupid move to make...

what REALLY happened was the right went on a Crusade....their rallying cry was GOD WILLS IT! They didn't think they had to try and connect with mere mortals when there was a divine deity whispering in their ear, driving them on.....the GOP thought their "God" would grant them a win because they are so self righteous and morally superior. .......didn't work so well. Delusions and paranoias and psychosis and temper tantrums just do not win elections............and the American people do NOT want to live under a THEOCRACY...........

I learned that

Prof. Alexander Frazer Tytler was correct when he wrote the following:

“a democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse out of the public treasury. From that moment on the majority, he said, always vote for the candidate promising the most benefits from the treasury with the result that democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy, always to be followed by a dictatorship”.

Unfortunately, we can't argue with the professor because when he wrote that we were still colonials of Great Britain and he was explaining what had destroyed the Athenian Republic more than 2000 years before.

Such foresight, and is there any question at all that the vast majority of Obamas votes came from those who have become dependent upon the government for their survival?

Darwinism has been circumvented in the USA and the result is the Democratic Party.....for now.

20 Trillion dollars in debt and we may find ourselves begging England to take us back.

Funny thing about that is that i never heard one single bit about religion from the GOP.

The only talk of religion came from the DNC trying to scare America into believing that Romney's Mormon religion would wipe off on them.

You are correct in one point though, the American people DO NOT want to live under a Theocracy.

But you fail to see that we dont want to live in a Socialists state either.

What is that, the manuscript for next year's public school history textbook? It's never too soon for a rewrite. The ends justify the means. As long as we dispense with these Theocrats ™, it's okay to lie, cheat and steal because we can sweep it under the rug later.

Problem is that people went to the Polls and voted based on wanting Gay Marriage and Welfare and they should have voted based on what was needed to repair the economny and make the nation strong again.

So now we have Gays being allowed to marry and we are headed for a 20 trillion dollar cliff with poor credit ratings.

Way to use your head and vote on things that really matter.

Too many selfish people in this nation.

YOU are the narcissist. You believe everything you think is true and accurate and a factual representation of the world around you.

The GOP lost because they had no message except to bash Obama. The world isn't black and white, it is many shades of grey and we face complicated problems many of which could have been productively worked through if the GOP hadn't been so obstructionist and petty and pathetic and whiny and angry and STUPID!

I disagree that you are a moocher or a taker if youre not a business owner.

The original quote was actually spot on.

I work my rear off at a job that i have because i finished high school and went to college to get a USEFUL degree and now i am employed.

I am not rich by any stretch of the imagination, i make between 60 and 65k a year and i pay a 25% tax rate on that pay.

How does that make me a taker or a moocher?

47% of this country pays little to no tax out of their income through the year and at tax time when they file they get every single penny they contributed back.

In many cases, they contributed so little that after deductions they get more money back than they contributed. WTH?

That is 47% of this country.

If every single citizen from top to bottom just paid 10% of every single penny the received as income from work / stocks/ etc with ZERO deductions we would have a 1 page tax law that works.

10% from everyone would grow the middle class and increase the economy due to more available income. The poor would then be more inclined to get eductaed or skilled to make more income and our nation could get out of debt.

47% Freeloading is no way to run a country especially when they receive every single benefit as an American citizen that i receive.

But rather than fix the tax laws, lets just continue to pretend that only Republicans are rich and Evil. Democrats like Pelosi, Reid are all dirt poor thats why they connect with the lower class so well.

Why else would they tell you the GOP is worried about tax breaks for the rich and yet they, the Dems in power, do nothing to fix the tax laws????

Like everything else, they just assume the lower class is uneducated and will just believe what they hear.

believe what you want.

I have a 16 trillion dollar debt to prove that im right.

I have a list a mile long of Obama promises that were never met. (Remember Gitmo?)

I have a list of crimes commited that will never be investigated (Fast and Furious?)

and you have the nerve to call me a narcissist? really?

You are delusional and have obviously taken in too much of the DNC Kool-aid.

The GOP lost because they had no message except to bash Obama.

(1) It worked for Obama in 2008, nobody talked about Obama's record as a senator, his campaign centered around trashing Bush. Four years later he is still blaming Bush for his own failures.

(2) Romney did have a message, if you want to find it, look in the recycle bins on the computers at mediamatters.org where they dump the other 95% of the video clips that are unacceptable because the criticize the prophet.

The world isn't black and white, it is many shades of grey and we face complicated problems many of which could have been productively worked through if the GOP hadn't been so obstructionist

Translation: My ideas have no guiding principles, but they could have been brought to fruition anyway if you'd stop questioning my authority as dictator.

and petty and pathetic and whiny and angry and STUPID!

yes, they have no message except to bash!

If Romney did have a message why did he fail?

Because younger voters are ****-ups that extol failure. They hold Obama as an example of how far a failure can go in life. Obama stands on the apex of mediocrity. Now when parents say, "someday, you could even be president!" they don't mean it as the opposite of failure, now it is synonymous with it. If Romney says someday you can be rich if you work hard, voters say, "pfft, easy for you to say!" Yet it's okay to sit on your ass and do nothing and envision you will be the next Kim Kardashian, that's a great American dream, *Snip*

"My policy went up 6% on the very day that the Supreme court decided that Obamacare was legal because it was a tax.

Please stop trying to help me. it isnt working"

That is a quote from you in another thread. See, you are selfish too...you want things to go your way...

I remember watching Marco Rubio at the Republican convention and thinking that he should've been on the ticket. He was funny, warm, charming, all the things Romney wasn't.

He did say at one point during his speech something along the lines of "we don't want America to be like the rest of the world, we want the rest of the world to be like America". That made me want to punch him, but apart from that he seemed alright.

What i learnt is that the Republicans really need to big Rubio up over the next four years, if they go with another "angry white guy" they're finished, if they're not already.

Oh, and that i was right in thinking Rubio should've been on the ticket.
