Hamas says that it is now in a state of "open war" indefinitely with Israel after the killing of the Hamas commander Ahmed Jabari by an Israeli airstrike.

The assassination has "opened the gates of hell," the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, were quoted by AFP as saying.

"The occupation committed a dangerous crime and crossed all the red lines, which is considered a declaration of war," he said in a statement. Hamas vowed to "continue the path of resistance."

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has called for an immediate Arab League meeting in response to Wednesday's attack.

Maybe the rest of the world should just turn away and let them get on with it.

Seems ZERO chance of these two peoples ever getting along with each other.

So sad for the law abiding citizens and children from both sides.

That appears to be what is happening now anyway..

Either that or nations (who should know better) are supporting the Israeli government & pointing the finger @ Hamas.. Totally ingnoring that fact that Israel is a rogue state that ignores a huge list of UN mandates & breaks international law...

If the world allows this to continue then nothing will change untill Israel becomes the next Empire that dicates their will on the rest of the world.

Israel is not the problem. It's Hamas. In partnership with powerful Muslim nations, Hamas wants Israel totally destroyed.

lol.

The rest of the world is a big part the problem imo..

Israel in the context that I was referring to includes Hamas, Gaza, West Bank, Where the fighting is happening.... Perhaps I should have worded that better to prevent the kind of finger pointing that gets 50% of these threads shut down by ingorance. There are two parts to every dispute..

Frankly, noone is truly innocent here except the victims and even some of them aren't entirely innocent.

This is an article from an intelligence group called Strategic Forecast or StratFor. They usually have very good info on M.E. issues. Another article I read but cannot find a link to explains that Israel has used the rocket fire but also another specific instance where Hamas attempted to kidnap Israeli soldiers by blowing a tunnel filled with explosives. That article went on to state that Israel has been waiting for a sufficient provocation to begin this assault that they have been planning for quite a while. They had been aware of Iranian intermediate (?) range Fajr 5 ballistic missiles being moved into Gaza and knew they had to be removed forcibly. They also attacked an arms factory in Sudan (with complete stealth) and proved they could strike quietly over the same distance as the trip to Iran. The Fajr 5's are what have been fired at Tel Aviv and, interestingly, Jerusalem. I was surprised that they targeted Jerusalem. Imagine what would have happened if one had made a direct hit on the Al Aksa Mosque?
