Still Waters Posted November 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted November 18, 2012 Witch-prickers are the stuff of horror films. A man in the tall hat and the dark cloak of a Puritan who comes to town to terrorise helpless women. But what if the witch-pricker was actually a woman in disguise? In Scotland, in 1662, that's exactly what happened. A woman named Christian Caddell had watched one of Scotland's most famous witch-prickers at work, and thought 'I could do that!' There was one problem: at this time most normal jobs were men only. This was an extraordinary job. But by dressing as a man, she got away with it. http://www.bbc.co.uk...otland-20315106
freetoroam Posted November 18, 2012 #2 Share Posted November 18, 2012 Thats religion for ya! the christians used to chuck the pagan women in the water, if she floated she was a witch, so they burned her alive, but if she sank, she was not a witch...but drowned. Thankfully this practice and practices like stoning are no longer in use, well, in most religions anyway.
