A political science professor has conducted a study suggesting that conflicts will halve by 2050.

There’s war in Afghanistan, a crisis in the Gaza Strip and percolating conflicts across sub-Saharan Africa. But for politicial scientists, that’s actually the good news.

As long as there is money to be made, resources to be taken and political or religious extremists. It won't stop, sadly.

If ever there's a time for alien intervention it's about now...

They will show us the error of our ways and tell us to throw away all our bombs and guns.

We might even receive some spiritual enlightenment as well.

Get rid of politics, money and religion will be also be part of their message.

They might even help us repair some of the ecological scars in the Earth.

If not these wars will escalate to a point where their won't be any shelter from the carnage.

I don't know whether nuclear bombs will go off but there will be a few trigger-happy fingers.

This can't happen when we are on the verge of some significant progress.

No alien would be able to permanently fix the broken mess that is humanity.

War has always been a political weapon. It has been used to gain power, prestige and more importantly, money. However, technology has improved so much in military aspects that the force modifier for it is much greater than any point in history. Thanks to America and it's vastly over-funded MIC, they have been able to rapidly out-pace the rest of the world in terms of military hardware (However, when you spend more on your MIC than the rest of the world combined, you kinda expect it, also, not always good stuff is made, the Bradley is an example as well as Colt M16). War technology has gone from pure power and mass killing, to high-tech and reducing the amount of personal in direct contact with the enemy. That's why unmanned drones, artillery and aircraft have been improved so much. Thanks to America stealing British Jet Engine plans in 1940, they have progressed rapidly in producing powerful jet fighters to escort powerful bombers. Precision missiles, drones, guided bombs. It's all about maximum damage for as little personal needed. It's also why Aircraft Carriers are a mark of your military power.

War will disappear, as in, two sides fighting each other in a town/field/place. It will all be about covert missions, groups of highly trained individuals fighting to remove a opponents military infrastructure and capabilities. These men and women will be supported with high-tech equipment, making them much more effective. The future will also mean the rise of the CyberWarfare programs around the world. What better way to defeat your opponent by turning off or corrupting his entire military with a simple virus? That way, with them gone, you use your un-manned equipment and powerful jets, to threaten and loom over your defeated foe. With such a force against conventional weapons like men and guns, the foe will either fight a losing war, or surrender.

War, my friends, will never go away. Besides, we need people to fight the aliens! WHAT WOULD WE DO WITHOUT MURRICA?!

Once the New World Order is in place and we have one single central World Government wars will end.

So will your individuallity and freedom as the global government would be a wealth distribution mechanism that would make us all equals with no sense of purpose or ability to advance.

Personally, i would rather fight to maintain my freedom and way of life.

Wars will never end until the last free man decides to just give up and no longer fight for his freedom.

I think alien intervention would lead to us pointing our weapons at them. lol

As a sad. Seeing the effort put in to raise a child. I don't think that I would be supporting any war. Unless in defence of Australia. Look at the South China Sea cold war. So much better than a hot war. There's hope for us yet

Not until there is no profit in it. As long as there are people who can make money off it there will be wars.

While the notion of fewer wars is very appealing, one has to wonder about the impact of such variables as global warming, overpopulation, diminishing resources, pandemics, etc.

You can just call me an optimistic so and so.

There has to be a end to these hostilities and it won't be down to the NWO.

Humans have got the capacity to fix it themselves but sometimes they need a push.

Well I can't speak for the rest of the forum but I know I won't be.

As for future generations to come there might still be some hope.

Some of you might even be around to remember this thread.

I agree about the aliens not being mentioned even though I brought it up.

An other time and an other place seems to be the underlying motto here.

But you could still be suggesting my rose-tinted spectacles have steamed up.

However altering your beliefs is not really what I'm about.

Here's some more stuff to chew the fat over...

You could argue that Earth is one continious battlefield.

And these individual acts of sadism, cruelty and cold-blooded murder complete the picture.

There is however a lot of good in the world which outweighs the bad.

The lillywhites have to got make more of an effort so change can be effected.

And when they achieve this goal the world should be the utopia everybody is striving for.

I sound like some idealistic dreamer.

Sweet... So, in a time where our economies are in the toilet, most major governments are influenced by religious extremism of one type or another, weapons are the most technologically advanced they've ever been (simmer down, ancient aliens guys), and we are quickly running out of our natural resources on a planet that is heating up due to global warming (simmer down, global warming conspiracy theorists) we, for the first time in our existence as a species, will be giving peace a chance! Great news! :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm against all war with the exception of defense, and not the premptive type of defense I'm so ashamed of my country for being involved with. However I don't believe that humanity will ever be that enlightened as that is the kind of thing that comes with age and there will always be young people both age wise and spiritually.

War will stop when Jesus returns to Earth, which is very soon now, as we are almost at the end of the book of Revelation. (and the Mayan calendar.)

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace."

Praise the true God.

It is nice to think about this optimistically and I certainly hope this is the case, or better yet alleviated altogether ( I know, wishful thinking). Maybe it would be in our best interest to develop ways for these huge corporations to make money without resorting to the war machine. If we spent half of the money that goes into war on education or space tech, imagine where we could be now.

I doubt it.

As long as their are 2 people alive, someone will want someone dead.
