DC09 Posted October 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 5, 2004 Israel has arrested 13 United Nations employees over "suspected links to terrorism", an Israeli army officer has said. The names and job titles of the UN staff members were not revealed and it was not clear when they were arrested. The announcement followed the killing of two members of the Palestinian terrorist group Islamic Jihad, including a senior official, in an Israeli missile attack in Gaza City. The men died when their car was hit by two missiles fired from an Israeli helicopter gunship in the north-west part of the city. Islamic Jihad said one of the victims was Bashir Aldabash, 40, who was one of the group's top officials in Gaza. Hospital officials said three people were also hurt in the blasts. The Israeli army has made no comment about the incident, which came as the military continued a large offensive in Gaza in which 68 Palestinians have died.
