Still Waters Posted December 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2012 A Colombian man has been living inside a sewer in the city of Medellin, in Colombia, for over 20 years. Although Miguel Restrepo is legally homeless and could be forced out of the sewer by local authorities at any minute, he describes the cramped space he shares with his wife and dog as a great place to live. http://www.bbc.co.uk...merica-20643956

Lilly Posted December 8, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 8, 2012 Meh. He has his own pool, fgs. El, cesspools don't really count as being "pools". Thinking on that I suddenly don't feel too good.

Lilly Posted December 8, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 8, 2012 Well, he certainly couldn't chastize his kids to "get their minds out of the gutter" despite what they were watching on TV!

xYlvax Posted December 8, 2012 #11 Share Posted December 8, 2012 Very optimistic of him... I would've found some other place to live...maybe the woods outside of the city.

Still Waters Posted December 9, 2012 Author #16 Share Posted December 9, 2012 20 years is a long time. He must be thankful to have shelter of any kind, awful when you think about it.
Lilly Posted December 9, 2012 #17 Share Posted December 9, 2012 Indeed, Still Waters is correct. Despite all of our joking I'm sure everyone agrees that this is a sad and tragic situation. No one should have to live in a sewer. Now I feel kinda bad about seeing any humour in it.

Lilly Posted December 10, 2012 #22 Share Posted December 10, 2012 I was just thinking though, sometimes humour can serve to highlight certain situations that need fixing.
Eldorado Posted December 10, 2012 #23 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Arrgh...between Eldorado and Biff I simply *can't* not see the humour here. That said, I still feel really bad for the guy. 22yrs he's been sitting on the can for, Lilly and he still managed to bag a wife, a TV and a dog! No need for sympathy, imo. Am actually kinda jealous. Lilly Posted December 10, 2012 #24 Share Posted December 10, 2012 (edited) Wow, Eldorado is right...perhaps the guy hasn't done so bad after all. Like they say, be it ever so humble there's no place like home! Edited December 10, 2012 by Lilly left out a word
BiffSplitkins Posted December 10, 2012 #25 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Wow, Eldorado is right...perhaps the guy hasn't done so bad after all. I've seen much worse living conditions for homeless people right here in my own city. At least they had a roof over their head. But I still have to wonder, do they ever notice when the dog farts?
