ozman Posted December 14, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted December 14, 2012 i try not to post sad stuff like this but at the same time its reality, its something bizarre strange out of the ordinary, never heard of someone sleeping inside a garbage dumpster for shelter when they can find other places. pallidin Posted December 14, 2012 #4 Share Posted December 14, 2012 Now that would be a horrible way to go. I can't even imagine the pain and suffering while being crushed amongst a bunch of garbage.

Clarakore Posted December 14, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 14, 2012 This has happened before. You would think that vagrants would know by now that they are risking death but then if they knew that they would also probably know that such shelters are actually colder than just lying on the side of a building where the sun last faced. Even makeshift shelters of cardboard boxes and bags make it colder inside them than right out.

Even makeshift shelters of cardboard boxes and bags make it colder inside them than right out. Are you sure about that? It seems that anything that would stop the wind or keep off the moisture would be better than being wet or in a cold wind....
Bonecrusher Posted December 14, 2012 #8 Share Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) Very, very sad. To a homeless person anything looks like shelter in the dead of winter. It's preferable from really, really cold to just a little bit nippy. These trash compacters are full of little tidbits. The kind of stuff that dosn't even make it into doggy bags. So this could have influenced the poor guy as well as having somewhere to lay his head. However in his desperation to keep alive he must have forgotten basic health and safety. I suspect he got cut off from his peers at Cardboard City. It's a dog eat dog world out there after all.
