Ealdwita Posted December 15, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 15, 2012 Annapurna has 6 major peaks, the only one over 8,000 being Annapurna I - which incidentally, holds the record for the highest fatalities of all the mountains above 8,000 feet. The Annapurna range can be seen from my lodgings in Pokhara, with Machapuchari (Fish-tail) mountain being the most prominent, although no-one has ever climbed to its summit. In 1957, a British team was allowed to climb to within 50m of the top. It's since been declared sacred, and nobody is allowed to climb it now.
