Dinosaurs are in the Bible

But these dinosaurs/Leviathans (Leviathi?) are supposed to have been living at the same time as Humans, aren't they? Like the one that swallowed Jonah. I think probably it'd most likely be either allegorical fables, of which the Bible is, as I'm sure people can agree, replete, or some other such as Crocodiles (which would have been something completely new to the Isrealites in Egypt) or whales, or perhaps Krakens.

NO! NO! NO!

There is no allegory or symbolism. The bible is the divinely inspired word of goowad and every syllable is literally true. When David (or maybe it was Solomon) wrote that her body was a trunk and her breasts were ripe pomegranates and that he'd climb the trunk and grasp the pomegranates, he was saying he literally planned to have sex with a tree. There's no biblical law against it.

Come to think of it, I don't think there are biblical laws about having sex with anything other than your same sex..... and that's only OT, so everything else is fair game!!!!!

The only sex rules I know of are don't have sex with other men, don't have sex with animals, don't covet another man's wife. Besides those yeah - if you can catch it, you can do it!!

It should be OK in Japan. Most of their inanimate objects are engineered specifically for that purpose. :gun:

Any scientist who genuinely believes the world is only 8000 years old deserves to be stripped of their degree.

We have RECORDED HISTORY that goes back further then that.

No we don't.

God bless.

If these people are scientists as you claim, I've no doubt you can give us some names and papers.

Dr. Carl Werner rec'd his undergraduate degree in biology with distinction at the University of Missouri, graduating summa cum laude. He rec'd his doctoral degree in medicine at the age of 23 and received the Norman D. Jones Science Award. He has written Evolution: The Grand Experiment-The Quest for an Answer.

If you go to either "Answers In Genesis" web site or "Creation Research Institute" there are a lot of books by scientific Christians. Morris (I can't remember all his name) has written several excellent books. He is already passed away but his book are still excellent. Oh, I found his name --- Dr. Henry Morris.

There is Michael J. Oard who is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Montana. He received his masters in atmospheric science from the University of Washington. He has written, An Ice Age Caused by the Genesis Flood.

There is a dentist who got interested in fossilized bones and traveled the world and took pictures in caves of dinosaur drawings and humans hunting them. Can't remember his name; but I think his book is titled Buried Alive.

God bless us all is my prayer.

You started it. You show me your evidence that there is recorded history that goes back further than 8,000.

God bless.

The Creation Research Institute and Answers in Genesis are not run by scientists. They are not scientific organizations. They do not have any credible support from scientists, from any field, let alone fields which would be relevant to this topic. You're getting your information from highly, highly dubious sources.

Did I say they were scientists? I thought I was saying they are the resources where you can find material written by scientific Christians.

God bless us all is my prayer.

Papers by Carl Werner: None

(ETA: Could you explain what the Norman D. Jones Science Award is? I've never heard of it and a google search only returns pages about Carl Werner.)

Papers by Henry Morris: 101 results returned. None outside the field of medicine.

Papers by Michael J. Oard: None.

In short, most of your 'scientists' have no peer-reviewed published works and, even if they did, their fields are totally unrelated to the topics they are attempting to cover. This is becoming such a common problem it would be laughable if it didn't fool so many people. The best one I heard of recently was the economist trying to discredit a paper on climate change.

A word to everyone but especially scientists - stick to what you're good at. Or if you want to comment on something, learn about it first.

Being a 'scientist' does not make you the authority on everything as the knowledge gained through academia is highly specialised.

Yes we do.

Sir, I am Catholic.

I teach science to children. I teach history to children. This cosmos of ours is full of things I don't even pretend to understand and I'm more then happy to say "well God's got it under control".

But something I do know, is that the world of ours is ancient. It's older, stranger and more wonderful then answers in Genesis wants us to believe. it's older stranger and more wonderful then you, I and any expert from Carl Sagan to Doctor Bob the Science guru will ever be able to understand, and it's certainly older, stranger and more wonderful then could fit into a mere 8,000 years of history.

Material by 'scientific Christians' doesn't cut it; anymore than materials written by 'scientific Muslims' should interest me. They are equally meaningless (and, 99% of the time, utterly wrong). Claiming to be "scientific" doesn't mean much of anything unless you're actually a scientist. And when you throw in the religious titles into things, it certainly brings the credibility bar down a few notches.

I have Setton's same suspicion: I've never heard of the 'Norman D. Jones Science Award', nor can I find any information whatsoever about it. I see no evidence at all that it even exists. And he clearly can't be very distinguished in his alleged fields, or else perhaps I'd be able to locate some shred of information about him that isn't on a creationist propaganda website.

Morris was an engineer; hardly an appropriate field to discuss the subjects he attempted to.

Again, Answers in Genesis and ICR are not scientific organizations; they are simply creationist propaganda websites. They have no credible or accurate information whatsoever.

There is Michael J. Oard who is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, Montana. He received his masters in atmospheric science from the University of Washington. He has written, An Ice Age Caused by the Genesis Flood.

Also not a credible source, since Oard's materials have been refuted, as with all these creationist propagandists, ad nauseam.

Jack Cuozzo. He's an alright orthodontist, but hardly an authority on his chosen subject matter (Neanderthals).

Henry Morris is/was a moron who claimed evolution was satanic and the craters on the moon was caused by the battle in heaven. He didn't have a degree in any natural sciences.
