sarah_444 Posted December 17, 2012 #28 Share Posted December 17, 2012 nice topic syria 2007 Wonderful! I love those sparkles in the snow. some parts are, but a lot of british columbia is warmer climate too. i happen to be in the interior which is a much higher elevation than, say, vancouver. where i'm from in ontario (at the ny state border) they get a tremendous amount of snow! We used to (I'm in Hamilton). It snowed three times last year I think and it wasn't enough to play in.

Bonecrusher Posted December 18, 2012 #33 Share Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) my backyard is like a christmas card right now It looks just like a picture postcard. I keep expecting a robin it's that inundated with snow. However it's a different reality in the UK. It's been a pretty mild winter by all accounts. All we've got so far are rain, blowing gales and frost. What little snow I've seen hasn't really got a stranglehold. I still think we need to be stockpiled with grit and rock salt though. Tbh I hate snow because it causes havoc with the footie schedules. Edited December 18, 2012 by Medium Brown
King Fluffs Posted December 20, 2012 #34 Share Posted December 20, 2012 If anyone wishes, I can share the downpour of torrential rain that's currently gracing my part of the UK.
Ealdwita Posted December 20, 2012 #35 Share Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) If anyone wishes, I can share the downpour of torrential rain that's currently gracing my part of the UK. Me too! The stream's burst its banks and the lower field's flooded right up to the fences. If it comes up any further, the lower part of the lane (our only link to the outside world) will be cut off! Better check the emergency supplies......Yes, plenty of rum in the cupboard! Just enough to tide us over until the Flood-Aid cheques arrive from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, (which I'm sure are in the post!) Hmmmmm. Just found this on Tatty's camera.... Lower Field......I think it's September this year. I have a feeling it's going to be worse now! Edited December 20, 2012 by ealdwita
Bonecrusher Posted December 20, 2012 #36 Share Posted December 20, 2012 If anyone wishes, I can share the downpour of torrential rain that's currently gracing my part of the UK. It's too late for sharing because I've already been lumbered with it! Round my area we get a lot of crazy paving and lopsided roads. So everything is absolutely saturated with nowhere for the rain to drain off. I'm quite willing to make a trade for some real shirt-sleeves weather. sarah_444 Posted December 27, 2012 #38 Share Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) Finally getting a decent amount of snow here tonight! We're only expecting about 15cm, but it's the most snowfall yet for the area. This was the park near me 2 hours ago. +joc Posted December 28, 2012 #42 Share Posted December 28, 2012 Great pics JGirl and sarah_444! We had a white Christmas and it was beautiful, but I don't have any pics. It rained all night and the rain turned to freezing rain and then snow about 2:30pm Christmas Day...before dark we had about 4 inches on the ground. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful pictures.

It's no joke when the frost gets it's claws into it. When the snow is so icy it's amazing how to stay on two feet. I prefer walking on glowing embers than doing it gingerly on a death trap. I'll have to say though the snow is more persistent in the States. I actually admire your pluck at something that freaks me out. However me not being jealous of snow is the understatement of the week. It's the realist in me you see... JGirl Posted December 29, 2012 Author #45 Share Posted December 29, 2012 not really a postcard type pic, but it shows the futility in shovelling the walkways to my front door lol i shovel it snows, i shovel it snows. i wouldn't bother but the postal workers will not deliver mail if you don't shovel your walks.
