Still Waters Posted December 31, 2012 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2012 Rev Felix Aubel claims occult practices in rural Wales have been increasing during the two decades he has been working in the area. The minister spoke out after latest figures in the 2011 census has revealed 83 witches and 93 satanists are living in Wales. He said there was an "unusual connection" between Christianity and witchcraft in some chapel circles in Wales. http://www.telegraph...ountryside.html
Keel M. Posted December 31, 2012 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2012 Nothing like a stereo-typical photograph to accompany the story. Hooray for yet more demonizing of witches.
Coffey Posted December 31, 2012 #3 Share Posted December 31, 2012 Nothing like a stereo-typical photograph to accompany the story. Hooray for yet more demonizing of witches. I read your post first for some reason, then thought it was going to be a cartoon image or some sort of stereotypical but colourful type of witch.... Oh did I shock when it was that image. lol Typical media ignorance as usual.

Coffey Posted December 31, 2012 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) Not just media ignorance. What you mean? You think it's agenda? Edited December 31, 2012 by Coffey
sarah_444 Posted December 31, 2012 #6 Share Posted December 31, 2012 Rev Aubel said he hoped his autobiography, called A Rebel's Story, acted as a warning to people not to get entangled in the occult. Well that pretty much explains it for me.

He said there was an "unusual connection" between Christianity and witchcraft in some chapel circles in Wales. http://www.telegraph...ountryside.html It’s not unusual in my family. My grandma was very devout Catholic and at the same time walking encyclopaedia of folk belief, or “witchcraft”. But grandma also thought socialists are closer to Jesus than majority of the clergy so maybe you could strike that "devout Catholic" and make it "free thinker with sympathy for Catholic rites". Or something. It really doesn't matter how you call it or what rite you follow, in my opinion, all that matters is your intention. And it is annoying to see the stereotype of evil witches being perpetuated by churches. Competition is competition, I understand that, but a little more fair campaign would be nice and more productive.
Grandpa Greenman Posted December 31, 2012 #11 Share Posted December 31, 2012 OMGs, I hope that person who was having chest pains saw a doctor along with the exorcist. Kind of scary to think about people having a heart problem seeing an exorcist. I got news for this minister where are more witches out there than he thinks. Most of whom are kind people who honor the Earth and cause no one any harm unlike a this joker who treated chest pain with an exorcist.
Helen of Annoy Posted December 31, 2012 #12 Share Posted December 31, 2012 To be completely fair, chest pains are often psychosomatic, but it has to be a doctor to tell what’s causing them. If it’s officially confirmed as nothing physical, emotional support and/or rituals according to taste will do wonders. Not the other way around, if exorcism fails, see a doctor to tell your family it's too late.
Clarakore Posted December 31, 2012 #13 Share Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) I like how he condemns certain types of magic by mischaracterizing them yet he seemingly approves of other types of magic such as the following. "As a precautionary measure, the mother later placed a horse shoe amulet in the porch of her home in order to protect her baby son and herself from the malevolent effects of the spinster's "evil eye"." http://www.telegraph...ountryside.html Edited December 31, 2012 by I believe you

Sean93 Posted December 31, 2012 #16 Share Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) I know a Wicca girl and she certainly doesn't look like that thing in that article picture. There's a fair bit of Satanism and Witchcraft going on here in Ireland too, it's interesting. I guy I know told me that he bought Magic Mushrooms from a group of Satanists who hang in derelict church in the countryside. I never asked if they were the Believing kind of Satanists or the Anti-religious kind. Edited December 31, 2012 by Sean93

(like many people into that because they are very "natural" so usually have nice skin etc ironically) Edited December 31, 2012 by Coffey
