Need help interpretting my dream, please help

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site, I was online looking for answers regarding a dream I just had so I figured this would be the best place to get some answers/opinions.

Just a couple of nights ago I had a dream with my mom, she has been deceased for 3 years now. I have been having dreams with her lately, but this one was extremely vivid.... it urked me...

My dream:

I was sleeping in my bed, all of a sudden I wake up from a noise that came from my closet near my bathroom. it was my mom opening the closet and coming out of it. she was in normal complexion, wearing a long nightgown she used to always wear. at first I was a little scared and confused, because at that moment I knew i was seeing her ghost. she opens the door to my room and walks into the living room. as she walks out of my room she turns grey.... no color, flushed out. I follow her.... as I am following her towards the entrance door to my house I felt VERY COLD. it felt VERY real, undescribable. she then opens the door and walks out, I did not walk out of my house with her. then I wake up. I woke up feeling like the whole thing was real, but I was just in another dimension or something.

I feel like she was trying to tell me something because I have never had a dream with her feel this strange and urking. I have never seen her ghost in my dream, every time I dream of her she is always alive in my dream.

someone please help because I feel like she is trying to communicate with me and I need answers.... It has been on my mind heavy.... anything would be greatly appreciated

According to the bible, the dead don't come back to earth, they sleep in peace- "Don't grieve for those asleep,for they sleep in Jesus" (1 Thess 4:13/14)

Until they're woken up on resurrection day- "Sleepers in the dust of the earth shall awake" (Daniel 12:2)

So it was probably a demon pretending to be your mother, it's a well-known trick they use to get invited into our spiritual plane,so they can go out and get into peoples minds.

after all, it's not going to admit it's a demon that likes to entice men to kill little girls or whatever, is it?

Hence the warning- "for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light" (2 Cor 11:13/14)

Remember that scene in 'The Exorcist' how the demon in the little girl pretended to be the priest's dead mother? He had the good sense to say to it "Shut up! You're not my mother"..

I don't interpret other people's dreams, but I'm interested whenever somebody reports a "big dream." That's Jung's term for a dream that has great emotional impact on the dreamer, both at the time it is dreamt, and continuing afterwards in waking life, often with a simple plot and "archetypal" characters - either mother or ghost would qualify as archetypal, and you have the two in a single dream character.

The "simple plot" is often going somewhere, and often in the company of the key archetypal character.

If I may ask a few questions, then

First, was the setting of the dream the house where you actually live now, the same in the dream as it is in waking life?

Second, in the dream house, were your bedroom, living room, and the door your mother's ghost used to leave the house all on the same floor? When she stepped out the door, would she be on the ground level surrounding the house, or would she have to descend stairs, or ... what was the vertical layout of her walk?

Finally, the very last thing in the dream,

I did not walk out of my house with her

Why not, do you think?

Three reasons actually, psychiatry does help people so I like it, second, Niles is my favorite character :3, and third, he's a Jungian specialist, which is the psychiatry I prefer.

Eight bits: yes, my dream took place In the home I live In now, its one level and when she walked out she turned right and it was one level. She didn't go up or down any stairs.

Well, why would a mom try to get you out the door... Have you been putting off doing something or going somewhere? something you're nervous about or just unsure about? She came out of the closet, so get dressed and go do it...stop being afraid, the ghost is just your mom, maybe her way of saying stop being afraid...

Thank you for that information. I can picture it much better now.

So, if you feel like answering, do you have any thoughts why you didn't follow your mother's ghost out the door? Since you didn't, the dream ends by leaving you with a very open-ended, very classic image: you are standing on the threshold - literally in this case.

I'm no dream interpreter but I have had a couple with my dead mom or grandmother in them. It was always as if they were trying to tell me something. Maybe your mom is wanting you to get out of the house more and accept her death. When you dream of her again try to accept what she is trying to tell you then maybe you can make sense of it.

Hasina is right talking to someone like a psychologist/therapist helps a lot.

Well, from what I've read in interpreters books and the like, dreaming of a deceased relative is apparently a forewarning of a loss you'll suffer in the present future. Not sure if this helps, but there you go

Not really. They prescribe pills. I hope you meant psychologist; the talkers. But even they aren't much better than the next man in translating someone's personal dream. To think that we should all go to a psychologist to get a dream interpreted is a kind of a silly notion. But I really hope you weren't implying the OP needed medication for having a compelling dream they are wondering about.

I can't help you interpret your personal dream, but I can give you my view on dreams. I see dreams as plays put on after thoughts/feelings are worked with deep inside as you sleep. You won't remember this work behind the scenes in processing your deep inner thoughts and emotional work, but it is translated into physical world-like 'plays', which are placed into your memory upon waking. Now it is anyone's guess (well, your own only, really) what thoughts and feelings made up your play, if what I believe is anywhere near to being correct.

I just got interested in your thread, because I have also had what I now consider a dream, but felt unlike any real dreams I've had. It's funny, because I always described it the same way you did: feeling like the whole thing was real, but in another dimension. Just one of those feelings.

Reading this thread has also reminded me of Jung's archetypal dream concept. I have had one of these! Thanks for the thread.

No, prescription medication should be the last resort but never ruled out. In this instance, I don't know, I'm no medical student, psychiatrist or psychologist.

I'd just rather not read 'it's your dead mother trying to communicate to you', false hope is an awful thing to feed people. I'm not saying anyone has or will in this thread. Just my opinion that when dealing with the deceased, the last people you should turn to are people who have never even seen your face.

Among other things, I am a Dream Interpreter.

Your Mom came out of a closet. In reality, a closet is where we keep our clothes, shoes, things we don't want out in the open. We usually have a lot of stuff in our closet. So, we can view the closet as, a place to keep our stuff. Dreams very much mirror reality in that our brain chooses imagery in an effort to communicate with our conscious awareness. So, in your dream, a closet might be thought of as, a place to keep our Mental Stuff. Memories, etc. that we just don't want scattered about in our waking conscious awareness. In this Mental Closet of memories is your Mother.

In our real life awakened state, our Mother is the one who takes care of us, feeds us, does all those things that mothers do. She is the one who cares about us the most. We came out of her body. She is a very comforting image. In your dream your Mother is indicative of your state of mind...you see her as wearing a long flowing gown. This would suggest a comfortable Mom...a relaxed Mom. She turns from normal color to grey, indicating a particular mood you have recently had that wasn't entirely positive.

Being asleep in your bed suggests that you are generally unaware of what is in your closet, but something important is now being placed in the forefront of your unconscious or sleeping mind.

You are in your house...in dream language a house can be thought of as where you house your thoughts. Your mindset, your view, your perspectives on life, etc. Your Mother leaves the house...you do not. And it is very cold at the door. The cold represents something lacking in your life or something not quite the way you want it to be.

I think the interpretation of this dream is an assessment your sleeping mind is making of its own wellness. It indicates that you are comfortable, relaxed, and yet there is something causing your mood to change for the worse. Something is lacking in your life and this may well be part of the reason for the imagery of your Mother as well.

All in all, I would tend to think it is a helpful dream...a good dream. A dream that shows you are in a good state of mind, but also that there are things you need to work on to make your life the way you really want it to be.

eight bits: I have always heard that when a deceased family member comes into your dream and you leave with them, they are taking you with them. in this case, my mom didn't talk, but I did not walk out of the door with her. Honestly there are so many different things running through my mind that this dream could mean but I would be guessing for days, right?

_Only: I agree with your response lol. a shrink could not interpret a dream, I would have to go to a medium to know exactly what is going on. alas, I am here just for insight Food for thought: I believe that we have "dreams" that feel real and leave you wondering "was I dreaming or did that really happen?", but actually, I think our souls leave our bodies and are just in another dimension- and then come back to our bodies when we awake.

joc: thank you for your interpretation greatly appreciated. It definitely helped to understand it a little more and give me more insight, and totally makes sense. the only thing is that in my dream I felt a bit shocked and afraid at the same time. I was completely aware that I was experiencing something paranormal.
