Following plenty of recent articles about life extension discoveries I have rounded up all I've come across below for those that are interested -

Sirtuins - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirtuin

All mammals including humans have seven sirtuins (Sirt1 - 7). These are dna repair mechanisms located inside every single one of the bodies cells. They upregulate when blood insulin levels are low. This happens when and after exercising, dehydration, cold shock, heat shock, consuming toxins, radiation poisoning, infection or injury. They are your survival mechanisms which get you past the above environment stresses by vastly upregulating the rate at which your cells repair themselves. This slows down cell replacement throughout your body so telomeres last longer.

Telomeres - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telomere

Sections at the end of your chromosomes. With every cell divisions they reduce in number until there are none left. At this point a cell either suicides or goes in to scenescene. In Scenescene a cell continues to function but doesnt suicide as it acquires dna damage and therefore becomes less efficient as time goes on. An accumulation of scenescene cells it what aging is.

Free Radicals - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free-radical_theory_of_aging

As your cells burn energy they produce oxidating compounds which damage dna. This damage is though to drive telomeres shortening.

So now we have the techniques for extending lifespan (proved in mammals but human experimentation is years away from being completed) -

Tryptophan - This is an essential amino acid for humans as our bodies cant make it. Good sources of it are eggs, chocolate, dairy, beef, pork, chicken, turkey, lamb and salmon. The body produces serotonin from it and the pigments which give you your hair colouring. Low levels of trptophan in the diet reduce thyroid activity. This slows metabolism and drastically extends life-span (proven in mice and other mammals). Your hair would go grey though!

Methionine - Another essential amino acid for humans. Your mitochondrial use the stuff in metabolism and it produces free radicals which damage their dna. Reducing methionine in the diet has been shown to drastically extend life-span (proven in mice and other mammals). Its high in the same food sources as tryptophan

Iron - This essential nutriant comes in two forms (non heme and heme). Body are super-oxidatives producing high levels of free radicals when consumed in the diet. Green leafy vegatables and meet are the food products with the highest content of iron in them. Reducing iron content (not to low you dont want anaemia) drastically slows down the aging process. Drinking coffee and milk with foods that have high iron content results in a lot of the iron passing through your body undigested.

Whey Protein - Found in milk and eggs. This form of protein comes in a form the body can use without converting it. This results in far less free radicals. Whey protein is often sold at gyms as body building powder.

Live to 500 -

Day 1 - Mixed fruit and veg, a pint of whole milk, as much water as you need.

Day 2 - Starvation

Day 3 - Mixed fruit and veg, a pint of whole milk, as much water as you need.

Day 4 - Starvation

etc (If your BMI starts to get low have a few pig-out days).

Most probably not, unless of course you can slow down the metabolic rate fivefold.

Given the human metabolic rate, and telomeres being finite, past 150 is very improbable.

allergic to whole milk and some fruits give me heartburn, do you have anything else on the menu?

Well apart from starvation.

All this advice just to have half the lifespan of Methoselah.

You would need meat if you arent doing whole milk (essential amino-acids) and the selection of fruit can be chosen to suit your needs.

Pretty much lol

969 years he lived for allegedly!! wow, how much whole milk and fruit was he on?

It's a good thing Jesus wasn't around at that time.

He would have turned Methuselah's water into wine.

The fasting, milk and fruits wouldn't have made a jot of difference.
