Mystery of the Olmecs

L.M. Leteane: For those blissfully unaware of a genre called non-fiction 'alternative history' the Olmecs of South America will remain an often-uncomfortable but enduring mystery. Although archeologists and historians regard their ethnicity as 'unknown', these unmistakably African people left an indelible mark in the ancient cultures of Meso- and South America - and their civilization is now firmly accepted as having greatly influenced the later cultures of Aztecs, Mayans, Inca and other Amerindian peoples.

The Olmecs look exactly like the Mayan and Totonac Indians that they are. Thick lips and broad noses are not soley African traits, but are tropical phenotypical adaptations. And unlike Africans, the heads show an epicantic eyefold:

What is more, geneticists and epidemiologists agree that there were no Africans here before Columbus. There could not have been- if there had, then the natives would have already been immune to old world diseases, and their own strains to cross-infect the conquistadores.

Finally, outside of Egypt and Nubia, there is nothing in Africa that has even a cursory resemblance to Olmec civilizations and those it inspired. Egyptians and Nubians don't look like the Olmec heads, and never did.

An African people- who did not bother to leave one hieroglyphic, one metal weapon or tool, nothing indisputably African.

Results for the "cocaine mummies" were not able to be repeated- science works through independent verification and repeatability. The initial result is genearlly thought to be from contamination from a coke head scientist.

This is garbage of the smelliest kind, and should be just as offensive to those who love Africa as Mexico. Africa did have many civilizations taht need more attention: The Nubian Kingdoms, Dar Tichit Walata, Ghona, Mali, Songhai, Kanem-Bornu, Axum and the other Ethiopian kingdoms, Somalian civilization, the Swahili, Great Zimbabwe, etc.

The truth is limited purposely. After years of those in the know limiting our understanding to a selfish recluse we become amazed by the truth when it surfaces just to realize it was infront of our face the whole time. The problem is that we forget that there are both good people and bad people in the world. We tend to make excuses for the people of ancient times and equate them to simple cave men. But as the pyramid of Giza still stands today and can't be duplicated by our modern technology (not to be mistaken for government owned and covered up advanced technology), these were smart people. They were not simple cavemen, the eygptians had ambition. Given enough time they would have dominated the world. It is not hard to understand that Egyptians visited South America, the truth and reality of it is only limited by your carefuly guarded understanding. Not Guarded by you, but by those that came before you and the critics who guard the truth from coming out so quickly. The truth will inevitably come out. But whole generations will remain ignorant for a long time before it does.

We would be 800 years more smarter had the Catholic Church not intervened and made it law not to practice science.

There is ZERO archeological, genetic, or epidemiological evidence that this happened. None what-so-ever.

And Egytians do not look like the Olmecs heads, Mayans do.

Did Egyptians visit South America, or did South Americans visit Egypt?

The presence of traces of coca in some Egyptian artifacts suggest the latter.

Another myth. The results on the "concain" mummies were never duplicated, depite much effort to do so. This indicates that the concain detected was contamination from a coke head lab tech.

There was NO contact one way or the other. This is yet another case of trying to steal someone else's culture.

I don't see why other peoples could not have come to the Americas from Europe or Africa or where ever at some point in time. They had boats in those days and certainly could have traveled to other lands by accidnet or on purspose for trade.Surely scientists could test the dna of people living in the region to see if they have any african blood. If you look at things like the pyraminds and the other womders in the world,,ancient man was fully capable of travel to other lands and meeting and perhasp intermarrying with others.

The idea that Africans sailed across the Atlantic and founded the Olmec civilization is utterly ridiculous. Africans had no seafaring tradition. European explorers found islands like the Cape Verde islands uninhabited, while even massive Madagascar was first settled by voyagers comings thousands of miles away from Indonesia rather than nearby Africa. Not to mention that, aside from the kingdoms in Sudan/Ethiopia in the East, there was nothing resembling high civilization in Africa for 2000+ years after the rise of the Olmecs.

This is the conclusion of the best scientists in the world to have studied the matter, and their opinions can easily be found on google or youtube.

What is more, this is not how science\history\archeology is done. If you want to say that they are "indisputably African" then you should understand that EVERYONE in the mainstream would dispute that and PRESENT EVIDENCE. And I mean real, genetic evidence. Not the non sequitars the author is presenting.

Your saying it must make it true, Cachi.

They HAVE tested the people of the region. Soem have African blood from the slave days, but geneticists can make complex maps and tell when the gene markers wewe introduced- they are not ancient.

But it is irrelevent. There is nothing about Olmec civilization that resembles anything in Africa. If they are nubian, then where are the hieroglyphics? If they are Mande, then where are the Mande pyramids in Africa? This is stupid.
