Belial Posted January 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 26, 2013 I was photographing the night sky and this image was amongst others i had taken, i had it on a long exposure time as i was taking star images but the clouds kept spoiling my fun. I called it spark, because it's like a massive spark.
Space Commander Travis Posted January 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 26, 2013 It annoys me when people say "Bug", so I'm going to say "bug"> It does look rather like an insect on the lens of the Camera.

Rafterman Posted January 26, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) I have no idea, but I can say that it looks a good deal closer to the lens than the sky behind it. Would you be able to post the original photo without cropping or resizing? Edited January 26, 2013 by Rafterman
Helen of Annoy Posted January 26, 2013 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2013 I have no idea what it is, but it’s not a bug. Starting with the fact that it has only 4 “legs”, too smooth for bug legs, anatomy is wrong even for a crushed bug and Belial would notice a crushed bug on the lens etc. I guess it only looks solid because of long exposure. But what it is, I can’t even guess.

Would you be able to post the original photo without cropping or resizing? I too would like to see the original image. might give clues as to the source of the shape in question. Long exposures can be tricky for a variety of reasons.
notforgotten Posted January 27, 2013 #9 Share Posted January 27, 2013 (edited) It looks like hair or lint on the camera lens to me. Edited January 27, 2013 by notforgotten
