I love this photo! Very nice shot! Is that a kookaburra or something close?

Thank you, all, and yes, exactly correct. A large member of the kingfisher family (but they don't do any fishing hereabouts, preferring lizards, rodents and other small prey) and their amazing laughing call is quite beautiful, most often heard in the mornings and evenings.
