Skateboarder being prosecuted after triggerin

Speed cameras on major highways have caught many a driver breaking the speed limit, but in South Africa, they’ve also recently flashed a skateboarder going a little too fast. However, he was on a skateboard, not driving a car, so you’d think he would avoid prosecution. But that’s not the case and he’s now facing charges.

24-year-old Decio Lourenco managed to reach speeds of 110kph/70mph as he raced down Kloof Nek Road on January 20. Behind him was a friend in a car filming the run, with Lourenco’s speed tracked by a GPS sensor on his ankle. At around the 1:04 mark in the video above you see the speed camera flash, signaling he was breaking the 60kph/37mph road speed limit.

Is it even possible to go that quickly on a skateboard?
