+OverSword Posted February 20, 2013 #102 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Ok would people have a problem if gun ranges used paper targets that looked like police fire and amblulanc workers. Maybe certin politicians Doctors or medics and militery personal to desesitise citizens. I would.
AsteroidX Posted February 20, 2013 #103 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Im sounding like a troll because I'm attempting to bring some rationality and common sense to the discussion? Or is it that I pointed out that these arent 3D targets like you assumed? Your trying to bring rational to a conversation on a topic noone else is seeing as rationale. But I suppose if your safe across a border somewhere theres no real investment for you.

Sir Wearer of Hats Posted February 20, 2013 #105 Share Posted February 20, 2013 (just read page one) Are we sure they're targets rather then "not targets"? You know, you shoot "x" but not "y", that sort of thing.

Thats not a picture of the target on paper, thats the electronic picture that gets printed onto the paper and then either stapled, nailed or taped to the wall/foam board/whatever you're using to prop it up. Stellar Posted February 20, 2013 #114 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Can you give me another example from another source that has the same type of imaging on it ? Im willing to admit if Im wrong. Theres so many different ones, ranging from very simple black and white to very colorful. http://www.taskforcetargets.com/#multipurpose http://www.mcqueentargets.com/products/#ThreatAssessment http://americantargetcompany.com/law_enforcement_targets.asp http://tacstrike.com/SCENARIO-TARGETS/ That wasn't the question. Stellar Posted February 20, 2013 #116 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Asteroid: This may also answer your questions: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/02/19/company-with-ties-to-the-federal-govt-designs-unsettling-targets-for-law-enforcement-community/ "For less than 99 cents per target, police officers can now shoot at real-life images “designed to give [them] the experience of dealing with deadly force shooting scenarios with subjects that are not the norm during training,” according to Law Enforcement Targets, Inc.’s website." rashore Posted February 20, 2013 #117 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Um, infowars provided a graphic of the website with the pregnant lady, it's a popup picture and I don't know how to link those so you would have to look at the OP article. By that graphic looks like a piece of paper with the image printed onto it, and you attach the paper to a piece of cardboard. Selling price is 99 cents each.
Stellar Posted February 20, 2013 #118 Share Posted February 20, 2013 Here's some interesting excerpts regarding these targets. The subjects in NMH targets were chosen in order to give officers the experience of dealing with deadly force shooting scenarios with subjects that are not the norm during training. I found while speaking with officers and trainers in the law enforcement community that there is a hesitation on the part of cops when deadly force is required on subjects with atypical age, frailty or condition (one officer explaining that he enlarged photos of his own kids to use as targets so that he would not be caught off guard with such a drastically new experience while on duty). This hesitation time may be only seconds but that is not acceptable when officers are losing their lives in these same situations. The goal of NMH is to break that stereotype on the range, regardless of how slim the chances are of encountering a real life scenario that involves a child, pregnant woman, etc. If that initial hesitation time can be cut down due to range experience, the officer and community are better served. http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/02/19/company-with-ties-to-the-federal-govt-designs-unsettling-targets-for-law-enforcement-community/ The officer used pictures of his kids on the shooting range to use as targets. I'm quite certain that he didnt intend on shooting his kids, though...
AsteroidX Posted February 20, 2013 #119 Share Posted February 20, 2013 (edited) I see the only one that fits the same images is a NATO supplier. Thank You for the work. They very well could be paper. 3D A unique feature to enhance the shoot /no shoot training scenario is the introduction of our 3D foam humanoid dummies which are now being used internationally by various specialised units. The dummies are designed to absorb thousands of rounds of 5mm – 9mm calibre so are durable for a long period (small repairs can also be carried out on them). They come with interchangeable features which include heads and arms and can come in various appearances. The hands are capable of gripping items like other foam weapon accessories to make the situation even more realistic.
