22 years old: Britain's oldest dog?

A one-time stray who was the runt of the litter could now hold the title of Britain's oldest dog - after she turned 22 years old.

Daisy the Jack Russell was rescued by owner Mark Barsby-Finch in 1993, when she was two years old, from a rehoming centre.

But twenty years on, she's still going strong.

There's no dog alive that is a runt of any litter.

So after all that the rule of dogs living seven years for each human year is wrong.

Tbh if you look at the longevity of cats you can sense there's a modicum of truth in this.

Daisy looks like a picture of perfect health and dosn't look she senses she's going to die.

I feel that German Shepherds,Big Danes and all other large dogs will have to stick with the seven year rule.

So what about medium- sized dogs like Boxers?

I suspect Kayla is acting younger than her years while Ty is more sedate.

If the seven- year rule is literal then Daisy could be prodded and probed for a longevity gene.

But that really won't benefit mankind after all.
