Still Waters Posted March 4, 2013 #1 Share Posted March 4, 2013 The Argentine ant has spread to every continent except Antarctica, overwhelming native ants with sheer numbers and fierce battle tactics. But they may have met their match in a recent arrival: the Asian needle ant. The cross-species face-off, a surprise to entomologists, could topple ecosystems where the battle lines are drawn. http://www.scientifi...vasive-ant-wars

ExpandMyMind Posted March 4, 2013 #3 Share Posted March 4, 2013 (edited) This has to be a breach of the Geneva Convention? It's always the same disregard for International Law you see when it comes to colonialists. Edited March 4, 2013 by ExpandMyMind
IamsSon Posted March 4, 2013 #4 Share Posted March 4, 2013 Interesting. Given that the Argentine ants are so successful at taking over new environments, one has to wonder why they had not simply naturally advanced out of their home grounds on their own, but required human assistance to do so.
